The Hilton Head Island Motoring Festival & Concours d’Elegance, one of the nation’s largest and fastest-growing automotive and motorsports enthusiast events, today announced the Honored Marque for its 15th annual festival. The 2016 Hilton Head Island Motoring Festival (HHIMF) will pay homage to the 1925 – 1948 era of European Classics. With the 2016 events scheduled for Oct. 28 – Nov. 6, the HHIMF is one of only a few national automotive gatherings to combine collecting and racing with enthusiast and lifestyle activities in a single, action-packed week. The Kiawah Island Motoring Retreat (KIMR) has put out a call that they have space for a few more concours quality cars. The 2016 Kiawah Island Motoring Retreat rolls onto Kiawah Island April 15-17, 2016. Located at the entrance to the famed Ocean Course, this celebration of outstanding automobiles features an entire weekend of events. More than one hundred unique and rare Concours cars will compete for the Best of Show trophy and other awards on Sunday, April 17. Collectors are encouraged to submit entries at www.kiawahconcours.com. There is no application fee, but all entries are subject to a selection process.

October 25th is the day. The British Car club of Charleston will host our 31st British Car Day at the beautiful Mt. Pleasant Waterfront Park on Sunday, October 25th, starting at 9:00am. There will the amazing silent auction tent, food on the grille, plenty of fun stuff and lots of great cars. The family can enjoy the pier at the park and views of the Charleston harbor. For those of you who don’t know, this is my home club, and the club I founded over thirty years ago with a great group of friends.  So, yes, this event is special. The British Car Club of Charleston will be holding its 31st Annual British Car Day at Memorial Waterfront Park, Mt. Pleasant, SC, just over the bridge from downtown Charleston. In addition to the British car show itself, of course there is the beauty of the water front park to enjoy. Sunday – October 25, 2015 British Car Show – Let’s show off all those great British cars we have acquired and love to share. You are guaranteed to have enthusiastic admirers. Foxworth III, a Marine veteran and a stockbroker for 25 years, died in December 2013 at age 58. Known as Foxy, his possessions included a Damask Red MGB considered in good condition and running well after an HS4 carb conversion. His wife, Cantey Foxworth, at one point last year advertised the soft-top for sale before agreeing to donate the MGB for a British Car Club of Charleston fundraiser. The British Car Club Midlands Centre out of Columbia, South Carolina, held their 9th annual Carolina British Classic show this past Saturday, April, and it was a pleasure to attend. The event was held at historic Columbia Speedway in coordination with Tartan Day South, an annual Scottish festival. Proceeds from the show went to Pawmetto Lifeline. The weather was cool and beautiful – a truly fantastic Spring day. As in years past, the background of the Scottish festival lent a music, food and an amazing array of traditional, and not so traditional, dress to the show. Having a car show in conjunction with an event such as this really makes the whole day more enjoyable for all those attending. The American MGB Association’s 38th Annual Meet – AMGBA MEET 2015 – for the MGB, MGB-GT & Midget – Myrtle Beach, South Carolina – October 3, 2015 MG sports car production as we know it was discontinued in 1980 with the closing of the famed Abingdon-On-Thames works in the United Kingdom. But these modern day classics are being preserved forever here in North America by members of the American MGB Association which serves enthusiastic MGB, MGB-GT, and MG Midget owners throughout the USA, Canada and throughout the world. According to Car & Driver, Jaguar Land Rover wants to colonize South Carolina, or at least a few hundred acres of it, for its first-ever U.S. factory. While nothing has been confirmed, Jaguar Land Rover is making headway in other markets as it seeks to grow annual worldwide sales to 750,000 by 2020, an increase of 76 percent over last year’s record sales of 425,006. On Tuesday, the first Chinese-built Range Rover Evoque came off the line in Changshu, which aims to produce up to 130,000 Evoque and Land Rover Freelander models annually. Back home, Queen Elizabeth II is scheduled to open a new plant for the company’s Ingenium engines near Wolverhampton next week. We will be going to the Carolina British Classics VII show on Saturday, April 6. This event is being held at the historic Columbia Speedway just outside of Columbia in Cayce, South Carolina. This year the British Car Club Midlands Center will again be merging their event with the popular Tartan Day South Festival at the Historic Columbia Speedway. There will again be many interesting and entertaining diversions throughout the day, as well as a variety of Celtic themed merchandise and food vendors. Entry fee to the Festival is included in the Registration Fee for drivers and all passengers pay $5.00 each. As always this is a charity event with proceeds going to the Wounded Warrior Project and Hidden Wounds.
