This year marks the 25th British Car Week, first initiated when Mr. Peter Egan published his classic story in his Side Glances column, titled "Seldom Seen Cars" in the March 1997 edition of Road & Track magazine. In his story, he shared his then-recent thoughts about reminiscing in the dentist's chair with his mouth full of gauze. After all, what else is there to do? He was thinking about what has happened to all of the old cars he used to enjoy seeing on the roads in his local town. He thought about the times when he would regularly see classic marques such as Morgan, MG, Jaguar, Porsche, Triumph, and even the likes of an old Woodie Wagon on the streets of his community. The above story is what inspired the creation of British Car Week. With the thought of…

Owners of the humble yet much-adored Mini, in all its classic forms, are invited to join in the celebration of that other iconic sixties British classic - the Jaguar E-type - at its 60th-anniversary event at Shelsley Walsh. The two legendary cars often slug it out for the top spot in public votes on the Best British Car Ever, but for the weekend of 12-13 June 2021, any such rivalries will be put aside to celebrate 60 years since the launch of the E-type by reviving the cars, music, and fashion of the ‘Swinging Sixties’. One of the unifying features of the event will be an homage to the 1969 film ‘The Italian Job’, a movie that beautifully captured the mood, energy, and cars of the carefree decade. Find out more »The Great Race 2021 – Texas to South Carolina
The Great Race is an antique, vintage, and collector car competitive controlled-speed endurance road rally on public highways. It is not a test of top speed. It is a test of a driver/navigator team's ability to follow precise course instructions and the cars (and teams) ability to endure on a cross-country trip. The course instructions require the competing teams to drive at or below the posted speed limits at all times. Each day the driver and navigator team receives a set of course instructions that indicate every turn, speed change, stop, and start that the team must make throughout the day (usually 220 to 250 such instructions per day). Along the course route, there will be from 4 to 7 checkpoints recording the exact time that the team passes that point. The objective is to arrive at each checkpoint at…

Find out more »New England British Reliability Run 2021
Begun in 2002 by Blake Discher of Detroit with help from John Macartney and based on similar events in the UK, the ABRR is a three-day drive for charity in British cars. It is not a race and is run on public roads at posted speeds. It is not a rally as there are no checkpoints or deliberately vague instructions. It is an endurance test of sorts, intended to be challenging but fun for the participants, and to see just how reliable these supposedly “unreliable” British cars really are. This year the run is proud to be raising money for Boston Children’s Hospital. Boston Children's Hospital is a 404-bed comprehensive center for pediatric health care. As one of the largest pediatric medical centers in the United States, Boston Children's offers a complete range of health care services for children from birth through…
