London, 30 October 2026 – McLaren has announced the McL 820, the next McLaren series supercar, coming in 2027.

To mark the announcement, McLaren unveiled a kiwi bird statue in central London, wrapped in camouflage bearing the new name. First used by founder Bruce McLaren, the kiwi represents a defining part of the marque’s heritage, connecting the brand with its beginnings while looking confidently towards the future.
The new naming structure combines the McL prefix, inspired by McLaren’s motorsport heritage, with a performance-driven numerical identifier. In the case of the McL 820, the number reflects the car’s 820PS power output. The naming convention marks the next chapter in McLaren’s evolution, creating a clearer and more consistent approach that unifies cars across McLaren Automotive and McLaren Racing.

The new car follows the 750S, whose final orders McLaren recently closed as it prepares the next chapter of its series supercar line (read our coverage: McLaren 750S Signs Off as Final Orders Close Out a Supercar Decade). Further details of the McL 820 will be announced in 2027.
McLaren Automotive, founded in the UK where its roots remain, builds luxury performance vehicles and has a global presence in more than 40 markets.
