New McLaren Teased – Top-Exit Exhausts

The next new McLaren is just two weeks away from being revealed online ahead of a public debut at the UK’s 2018 Goodwood Festival of Speed. To keep the world guessing, a second, tantalizing image has been released revealing a pair of formidable top-exit exhausts. This follows the issue last week of a partial view of its dramatic rear. The car, which will be driven up the famous Goodwood Hill Climb for the first time on Thursday, July 12, will be the fifth model to be announced under McLaren’s Track22 business plan. It will benefit from increased power, minimized weight, optimized aerodynamics, and enhanced driver engagement. It will also deliver track-focused dynamics. And like the McLaren Senna, the most recent model revealed by the Woking-based company, it will be limited to the few. The wait to learn more will be […]

McLaren P1 is Belle of the Ball in Geneva

There was something for everyone produced in Britain at Geneva – from the £10,000 Nissan Note to the £265,000 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith. But the most spectacular British debut at the show was the £886,000 McLaren P1, a car being billed as a “hybrid hypercar” — a green supercar. The fearsome and fabulous-looking P1 is the 217mph successor to the legendary F1 that was the world’s fastest car when launched in 1999. The P1 is powered by a combination of a 727bhp, 3.8litre twin turbo V8 engine and a 176bhp electric motor. That’s a total of 903bhp that delivers 0.62mph in 2.8 seconds. McLaren say their aim is not to be the fastest but the easiest to drive the faster you go. The P1 will also do 12 miles on pure electric power making it a supercar with zero emissions in […]

Lotus to unleash Britain’s fastest car

The battle lines are drawn. The race to build Britain’s fastest and most
powerful production
car is on. But it’s not McLaren, Bentley or even Aston Martin that aims
to lead the way. It’s Lotus. During an exclusive gathering at the company’s HQ in Hethel, Norfolk, chief technical officer Wolf Zimmermann told Auto Express of his plans to build a flagship Superleggera version
of the next-generation Esprit – and we can show you what it will look like in our exclusive images. Bosses held the meeting to face critics of the New Era plan, which in June 2010 revealed five new cars would be launched in five years. As well as confirming the flagship Esprit, Lotus unveiled plans for a city car called Ethos – to rival the Aston Martin Cygnet
– plus the 2+2 Elite, four-door Eterne and the […]

McLaren Opens Retail Flagship in London

The first of McLaren’s 35 dealerships set to open in 2011 opens its doors tomorrow in London’s One Hyde Park. McLaren’s first dealership opens in one of London’s newest and most prestigious developments – fitting for the all-new supercar. Although the MP12-4C is not McLaren’s first foray into street legal super cars it will offer more than four times the sales and service support than it did with the F1 and its eight worldwide dealerships. This time instead of flying a technician to the owner of the car or service center McLaren claims it “is stocking its retail network with a spare of every serviceable part for the MP4-12C.” McLaren calls it “its ‘pit stop’ service concept that ensures fast and efficient repair.” Good thing too because the MP4-12C is the first in a full lineup of carbon-fiber based sports […]
