Aston Martin Lagonda Expands UK Site Operations

Aston Martin Lagonda today announces two important new additions to its UK site operations. The Aston Martin Test and Development Centre at Silverstone will become a new hub for prototype vehicle testing, focused on chassis dynamics and high-speed handling. Concurrently announced is the creation of a central London office providing conveniently located space for meetings and events. Commenting on these announcements, Dr Andy Palmer, Aston Martin President and Chief Executive Officer said: The company is now investing for growth across the Aston Martin and Lagonda brands. I am particularly pleased that we can now call Silverstone home for dynamic testing and development.

Andreas Bareis has been appointed as Vehicle Line Director of McLaren Automotive’s Super Series product family. He will take up his position in July and will report directly to Chief Operating Officer Dr. Jens Ludmann. What we know so far about the unnamed SUV is that it will be a “full SUV”, meaning it won’t be a compact product like the Hyundai Creta or the Renault Duster. MG Motor UK has continued to achieve growing sales figures throughout the month of May. The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) revealed results confirming that MG continues to outperform the new car market with a year-to-date volume increase of 103% compared with the first five months of 2017. MG more than doubled its registrations in May compared to the same period last year, keeping the brand on course to meet its ambitious sales target. Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC reported May 2018 US sales: Land Rover reached a new May sales high of 7,103 units, an increase of 42 percent from 4,993 in May 2017; Jaguar sales were 2,366 units, a 24 percent decrease from 3,113 units in May 2017. Data Breach at JLR Reveals Employee Records and Layoffs

A recent data breach revealed the records of hundreds of employees at Jaguar Land Rover’s factory in Solihull, England. This breach, which was first reported by the Huffington Post, included employee names as well as personnel issues such as sick days used and disciplinary issues. What is worse, the records were also flagged to indicate who might be let go during the company’s upcoming layoffs. In a bit of a public relations snafu, instead of accepting blame and attempting to apologize for the data breach, JLR initially denied the reports calling them “fake news”.  Obviously, employees are none-too-pleased. Aston Martin Reports First-Quarter Earnings

Aston Martin Holdings (UK) Ltd., the producer of highly desirable luxury handcrafted sports cars, today reported a 3% rise in first-quarter adjusted Earnings Before Interest, Tax, Depreciation and Amortisation (EBITDA) to £43.7 million, representing an EBITDA margin of 24% on revenues of £185.4 million. For the three months to 31 March 2018, the Company achieved positive pre-tax profits of £2.8 million as strong demand continued for the recently launched DB11 V8 twin-turbo coupe and Volante models.
