Aston Martin Valhalla Spider: The ultimate open-top supercar

Aston Martin has taken the roof off its mid-engined hybrid supercar. The new Valhalla Spider is the fastest open-cockpit Aston Martin ever made, capable of reaching its full 217mph (350km/h) top speed with or without the roof.

The Spider employs a comprehensive roof system designed to conserve the clean, flowing lines of the Valhalla Coupe. A removable and stowable black fabric roof is standard, allowing roof-off driving with the reassurance of full weather protection should conditions change. With the fabric roof in place, drivers can reach a class-leading 124mph, while an optional carbon fibre hard top allows unrestricted roof-on access to the electronically limited 217mph maximum. A rain cover is provided for static use.

To maintain performance and occupant comfort with the roof off, a unique wind deflector clips into position when the roof panel is removed, managing airflow over the open cockpit, and the snorkel, bespoke to the Spider, has been reprofiled and sits 35mm taller. Revised active aerodynamics and Electronic Stability Programme calibrations adapt to both roof-on and roof-off conditions, maintaining maximum downforce in excess of 600kg with the roof fitted. A new carbon fibre Touring Seat is standard, though the Coupe’s more aggressive seat remains available at no cost, and the signature dihedral doors gain refined kinematics and a frameless design.

Valhalla Spider shares the Coupe’s 1,079PS, 1,100Nm plug-in hybrid powertrain. At its heart is the bespoke 828PS 4.0-litre twin-turbo flat-plane crank V8, with a specific output of 207bhp per litre, the highest of any Aston Martin combustion engine, while three e-motors contribute a further 251PS. Two motors drive the front axle with full electric torque vectoring, the third assisting the V8 alongside the 8-speed dual-clutch transmission, and Aston Martin’s Integrated Vehicle Dynamics Control continually shapes the car’s character through four driver-selectable drive modes.

“Valhalla Coupe broke so much new ground. Our first production mid-engined supercar. Our first plug-in hybrid. The first to feature our bespoke flat-plane crank V8 engine, and the first to use our all-new 8-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT). It also pioneered a fresh design language and achieved a unique blend of exemplary on-road feel and engagement matched by extraordinary on-track capability,” said Aston Martin CEO Adrian Hallmark.

“Valhalla Spider builds on those impressive ‘firsts’, preserving the aesthetic beauty and dynamic bandwidth of Valhalla Coupe while introducing the expanded opportunities for enjoyment and engagement that can only be found in an open-cockpit supercar. High speed or low speed. Rain or shine. Roof on or roof off. Road or track. Valhalla Spider ticks every box.”

Developed with continued input from Aston Martin Performance Technologies, the consulting arm of the Aston Martin Aramco Formula 1 team, the Spider is built around a version of the Coupe’s bespoke carbon fibre tub, moulded using a combination of resin-transfer moulding and F1-derived autoclave technology. The Valhalla Spider was announced ahead of its global debut at the 2026 Concours at Wynn Las Vegas, and deliveries start in Q3 2027.
