The Texas MG Register’s Fall Gathering of the Faithful (GOF) was held in Granbury, TX in mid-October. Just British was very happy to help support this event.  You can see some pictures of the event below, and you can see photos of the event at Texas MG Register’s site under past events – Fall 2017. According to Register member and event organizer Frank Kopec, the event had 63 cars and 126 people registered, and there were also had a few walk-ins. It is nice to see a broad range of cars, and it seems there were both original and modified examples. Looks like fun time for all in attendance.

The FIA World Endurance Championship is ready for action in the Wild West; as the 6 Hours of Circuit of The Americas is set to take place this weekend in Austin, Texas. After winning last time out in Mexico with the #95 V8 Vantage GTE, Nicki Thiim and Marco Sorensen will be hoping to continue that run of form this week and repeat last year’s victory in Austin; a result that catapulted their 2016 championship bid.

The Texas MG Register’s Fall Gathering of the Faithful will be in Granbury, TX October 19-22, 2017 The event begins on Thursday, October 19 at 6:30pm at PINS Bowling Alley. As the evening progresses we head for Comfort Suites, the host hotel, for all the parking lot activities. Friday, October 20th there will be a rally through historic Granbury followed by an Escape the Room game then on to the Comfort Suites parking lot. Saturday, October 21 will feature the car show, a visit to the Barking Rock Winery, dinner and the awards banquet. You can register for this event at via the website until September 15.

The Texas MG Register’s 2017 Spring Gathering of the Faithful will be held for the 42nd time in Salado, TX May 11-14. The theme will be “The Magic Never Ends”. The event starts at the Salado Winery on Thursday, May 11 at 4pm. There will be scenic drives, lunches, dinners and time to visit other MG owners during the weekend. The car show will start at 10 am on Saturday, May 13 and the Awards Banquet will be Saturday night both at the Venue. The host hotel is the Salado Holiday Inn Express.

I got an email from reader Joanna Ellis this past weekend that intrigued me, so I asked her about her most recent adventure. First the initial email… I raced a 1965 TR4A in the late ’70’s and early ’80’s in the US at Bryar Motor Sports Park (now New Hampshire Motor Speedway), Lime Rock Park, Bridgehampton, and others. Aston Martin Racing has cooled down to the taste of champagne, after winning both GTE Pro and Am classes in a scorching 6 Hours of Circuit of The Americas in Austin, Texas. After clinching the GTE Pro pole yesterday, Nicki Thiim (DN) and Marco Sørensen (DN) continued their strong form to bring their #95 V8 Vantage GTE home first at the six-hour mark. Aside from the pit-stop windows, the duo led the GTE Pro field for the entirety of the race with both single stinting throughout.

The Texas MG Register’s Fall Gathering of the Faithful (Gof) will be in San Marcos, TX, October 6th-9th, 2016. Registration starts on Thursday afternoon. There will be dinners on Thursday and Friday preceded by scenic drives. The lunch on Friday will also have a scenic drive be followed by a visit to the Old Kingsbury Aerodrome and Texas Mead Works. On Saturday morning all the vehicles entered in the car show will drive to Dick’s Classic Garage where after the show lunch will be served. In the afternoon, there will be a rallye for those interested. The Saturday dinner, awards show and auction will also be at Dick’s Classic Garage. The Texas MG Register will celebrate our 41th Spring Gathering of the Faithful in Salado Texas between May 5th-8th, 2016. This event will honor the 60th anniversary of the MGA. All details of this event including hotel rooms is available at tmgr.org GoF stands for “Gathering of the Faithful”. The TMGR hosts at least two multi-day GoF’s annually, Fall and Spring. The Spring GoF is always held the second weekend in May in Salado, Texas, and the Fall GoF is located anywhere the hosts choose. Past GoF locations include Fredericksburg, Waco, Austin and Montgomery. A GoF normally includes a car display, judging, a rallye or drive, and an awards presentation.  

Once again, the Red River Triumph Club hosts the Vintage Triumph Registry National Convention. This time it’s on the shore of Lake Texoma on the border with Oklahoma during the mild North Texas Fall weather. Events start on Tuesday 4 October and culminate with the awards banquet Friday evening 7 October. One of the highlights of the convention will be a discussion with Graham Robson and Richard Langworth. Two well know figures in British Motoring. Registration will open on Monday afternoon. Events include Auto Cross, Gimmick rallies, Breakfast and Dinner drives, Funkhana, Le Mans start, TSD Rally, Dinner cruise, Welcome reception, Concours and Participant’s Choice Car shows. Due to anticipated bad weather the South Texas All British Car Day has been postponed one week. The new date is October 31 (Halloween). The 28th Annual South Texas All British Car Day will be held on October 31th from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM on the Main Plaza (corner of Main and Blanco Streets) in Boerne, Texas. Thee will be twenty-nine classes with judging by participants choice.  Fee is $25 (or $20 if postmarked by October 15).
