Caterham is crossing the pond to one of the USA’s most famous circuits, Laguna Seca, for the inaugural Caterham Challenge Cup (CCC), 1st – 2nd December 2018. New to Caterham this year, the one-off race weekend is being billed as the ultimate climax to the Caterham Motorsport racing calendar. The celebrated British car brand is blazing a trail with this announcement, proudly becoming the first manufacturer to offer drivers from a club championship in the UK the chance to compete in an exclusive event on American soil. Jaguar Land Rover North America today announced the official opening of its new state-of-the-art North American Headquarters in Mahwah, New Jersey. Ahead of the 2018 New York International Auto Show, the opening was celebrated by three days of events, engaging employees, VIP guests, customers, retailers, students and local government officials. Activities included an Employee Open House for family and friends and an official Building Dedication Ceremony where Joe Eberhardt, President & CEO, Jaguar Land Rover North America, announced the official renaming of the street to Jaguar Land Rover Way—placing the new headquarters at 100 Jaguar Land Rover Way. Guests included Prof. Dr. Ralf Speth, CEO, Jaguar Land Rover, Olympic Gold Medalist Meghan Duggan and Mayor Bill Laforet of Mahwah, New Jersey, who presented Jaguar Land Rover with a key to the city.

International auctioneers Coys have set new world records for two Range Rovers, originally commissioned for King Juan Carlos of Spain, at their Essen Techno Classica sale in Germany on Saturday 24th March. The 1977 Range Rover by Alcom Devices sold for €78,750 and the 1973 Range Rover Cabriolet went for €78,750 as well, proving the trend that early Range Rovers are becoming increasingly popular. Given the political climate of the time, the 1977 Range Rover was ordered from Alcom Devices in London and boasted, amongst other features, special armour, 10mm bulletproof glass all round and a James Bond-like communication system for the King, which made it possible to track him in cars, yachts, helicopters or anywhere else.

Two-time Pikes Peak overall winner Rhys Millen will pilot a Bentley Bentayga at the 2018 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb on June 24th. The MINI John Cooper Works Team and MINI USA left no doubt about their desire for a series championship during today’s Alan Jay Automotive Network 120 at Sebring International Raceway in Sebring, Fla. The race was dominated by the MINI JCW race cars, with Mark Pombo and brother Mat Pombo, battling for the 1 – 2 positions in the final hour of the race. When the checkered flag waved Mark Pombo was in the lead in the #52 MINI JCW with Mat right behind him in the #73 MINI JCW. Teammate Derek Jones did an outstanding job recovering from earlier contact while leading the race to drive an injured #37 MINI JCW to a fourth-place finish.
Land Rover has once again shown its support for the British countryside, announcing the launch of its fifth annual bursary in partnership with The Prince’s Countryside Fund. The bursary will offer a year-long car loan and, for the first time, Land Rover are offering two Discovery Commercial vehicles as part of the line-up. These vehicles boast 1,856 liters of flexible, hard wearing loadspace accessed by a powered tailgate, towing capacity up to 3.5 tonnes and Land Rover’s legendary Terrain Response system. The two Discoverys will be joined by three Land Rover Discovery Sports, known for their capability over a wide variety of terrains and weather conditions. These vehicles will be loaned to the most enterprising and entrepreneurial young people working in rural Britain.
