Jaguar Cars is a brand of Jaguar Land Rover, a British multinational car manufacturer headquartered in Whitley, Coventry, England, owned by the Indian company Tata Motors since 2008.Jaguar was founded as the Swallow Sidecar Company in 1922, originally making motorcycle sidecars before developing passenger cars. The name was changed to “Jaguar” after World War II to avoid the unfavourable connotations of the SS initials. A merger with the British Motor Corporation followed in 1966, the resulting enlarged company now being renamed as British Motor Holdings (BMH), which in 1968 merged with Leyland Motor Corporation and became British Leyland, itself to be nationalised in 1975.

Legendary Jaguar sports car racers Andy Wallace and Davy Jones joined the Special Vehicle Operations development team at Goodwood Motor Circuit last month, declaring the new Jaguar XE SV Project 8 “absolutely staggering” and “a winner” after testing it on the fast and demanding UK track. British driver Andy Wallace won the Le Mans 24 Hours endurance race in 1988 driving the Jaguar XJR-9 and was part of Jaguar’s victorious 1988 and 1991 World Sports Car Championship teams. The Goodwood test was the first time he’d driven the all-wheel-drive track-focused Project 8, which features a 600PS supercharged 5.0-litre V8 powertrain.

Jaguar has revealed a distinctive new special edition of its Jaguar XE sports saloon. The Landmark Edition features unique design enhancements and a carefully chosen specification to showcase the very best of the award-winning XE. The Landmark Edition is based on the R-Sport with the addition of unique 18-inch alloy wheels that set the new model apart. The exterior features a Sport front bumper, body-colored side sills and boot spoiler while the side window surrounds, door mirror caps, grille surround, and side vents are all finished in Gloss Black alongside special Landmark badging on the side vents. Our Video of the Week this go-round comes from our friends over at Petrolicious and features the story of the Jaguar XKR-15. In their “Made to Drive” episode from Januar of this year, they fold themselves into the cockpit of Jasbir Dhillon’s 1991 Jaguar XJR-15 to experience one of the rarest and rawest supercars built in the 20th century. Aimed at transferring the Le Mans-winning XJR experience to the road, just 53 examples of the XJR-15 were produced with the help of Tom Walkinshaw under the banner of Jaguar Sport, and only 27 were optioned for road use. Powered by a beautifully shrill six-liter V12, it’s a lesser-known but no less sexy staple of 1990s supercardom, and one of the finest examples of a “race car for the road,” of any decade. Panasonic Jaguar Racing was once again at the heart of the action in Rome in the latest round of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship as the team’s record of scoring points in each round of the 2017/18 season continued. In a season of firsts, Mitch delivered the team’s highest ever starting position of third place with team-mate Nelson starting 13th on the grid. Both Nelson and Mitch made solid starts and managed the energy of their Jaguar’s efficiently. As the halfway point of the race approached, Nelson pitted first for the team, but encountered difficulties with his seatbelts as he pulled away from the garage, he retired shortly after.

Jaguar Land Rover To Cut Manufacturing 1,000 Jobs

Jaguar Land Rover, the UK’s biggest auto manufacturer, is cutting 1,000 jobs in the UK as the diesel scandal and slumping sales hit the beloved British brand. Now owned by India’s Tata Motors, JLR employs about 40,000 workers in the UK who produce over 500,000 vehicles a year. The company is cutting the jobs at the Birmingham factory that manufactures the Jaguar F-Pace, Land Rover Discovery, and various Range Rover models. Demand for Jaguar Land Rover cars has fallen in Europe due to fallout from the VW led diesel emissions scandal. Jaguar Land Rover pointed out that “the huge drop in demand in diesels” led to its decision not to renew the contracts of 1,000 workers. Panasonic Jaguar Racing has unveiled the concept livery for the Jaguar I-TYPE 3, their Gen 2 race car for season five of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship. As the British team continues their mission ‘Race to Innovate’, this marks another historic moment in Jaguar Land Rover’s electrification strategy. The Gen 2 race car is a bold, futuristic and dynamic design and a big step forward in speed and performance. Maximum power increases to 250kW (the equivalent of 335bhp) available during qualifying and 200kW available during the race. An improved battery has allowed teams to move to one race car per driver and drop the mandatory car-swap demonstrating the rapid technological development in battery electric vehicles. The Jaguar I-TYPE 3 will also feature an LED Halo after the FIA implemented new safety regulations earlier this year.

Jaguar Land Rover North America today announced the official opening of its new state-of-the-art North American Headquarters in Mahwah, New Jersey. Ahead of the 2018 New York International Auto Show, the opening was celebrated by three days of events, engaging employees, VIP guests, customers, retailers, students and local government officials. Activities included an Employee Open House for family and friends and an official Building Dedication Ceremony where Joe Eberhardt, President & CEO, Jaguar Land Rover North America, announced the official renaming of the street to Jaguar Land Rover Way—placing the new headquarters at 100 Jaguar Land Rover Way. Guests included Prof. Dr. Ralf Speth, CEO, Jaguar Land Rover, Olympic Gold Medalist Meghan Duggan and Mayor Bill Laforet of Mahwah, New Jersey, who presented Jaguar Land Rover with a key to the city.

Together, the two companies will develop the world’s first premium self-driving electric vehicle for Waymo’s driverless transportation service. Jaguar Land Rover and Waymo (formerly Google self-driving car project) will work together to design and engineer self-driving Jaguar I-PACE vehicles. This long-term strategic collaboration will further Waymo and Jaguar Land Rover’s shared goals: to make cars safer, free up people’s valuable time and improve mobility for everyone.

Jaguar has taken to the Monaco Grand Prix circuit to showcase the performance and handling of its first battery electric vehicle (BEV), the Jaguar I-PACE. Boasting 394hp and 512lb-ft of torque from its twin electric motors, the I-PACE takes just 4.5 seconds to accelerate from 0-60mph (4.8 seconds from 0-100km/h)2. Monaco’s iconic harbor layout was the perfect venue for the performance SUV’s late-night test, with its combination of technical straights, tight twists, and turns.

The number of attractions confirmed for this summer’s XK70 Jaguar Festival at Shelsley Walsh Hillclimb is growing fast. The family-friendly event in Worcestershire on 9-10 June will celebrate the 70th anniversary of the ground-breaking XK120 and all subsequent XK cars and engines, and in the last month more well-known Jaguar personalities and cars have committed to taking part. Two guests of honour newly confirmed for the Festival are Sir John Egan, the chairman of Jaguar from 1980 to 1990 who saved the company from bankruptcy, and Keith Helfet, the former Chief Stylist at Jaguar who designed the XJ220 supercar, the XK180 concept car which commemorated the XK’s 50th anniversary, and the 1990s F-type concept. JLR Achieves Second Highest February Sales

Jaguar Land Rover achieved its second-highest February sales performance with strong sales of the new Range Rover Velar and Land Rover Discovery and the new 18 model year Range Rover and Rover Sport as well as the new Jaguar E-PACE still ramping up, despite difficult trading conditions in key European markets, especially the UK. Retail sales of 39,911 Jaguars and Land Rovers in February were 2.6% down on the previous year’s all-time high. Solid demand in China (3.3% up) and other overseas markets (1.5% up) was offset by lower sales in the UK (15.2% down for the month) and Europe (6.9% down), where trading conditions remained challenging. Sales in North America were 2.2% down on the same month in the previous year. With the company’s sales up 2.9% in January, year-to-date sales are level with a year ago.

Jaguar Creates Unique XJ for Iron Maiden Drummer

Yesterday at the Geneva Motor Show Jaguar Classic was proud to present Iron Maiden drummer Nicko McBrain’s custom-built ‘Greatest Hits’ Jaguar XJ6, kicking-off Jaguar’s XJ 50th anniversary celebrations in 2018. The bespoke commission is a collaboration between Nicko, the expert engineers and craftsmen at Jaguar Land Rover Classic Works in Coventry, and Jaguar Design studio director Wayne Burgess. The project involved more than 3500 man-hours of work, with more than 4000 parts refinished, replaced or redesigned. Unlike any 1984 XJ6 before, it incorporates substantial modifications to the exterior, interior, drivetrain, and suspension, resulting in Nicko’s dream XJ.

E-Type UK Opens New Bodyshop in Kent

E-Type UK – one of the leading authorities for all things Jaguar E-Type – has opened a brand new, state-of-the-art bodyshop at its Kent headquarters to bring all operations in-house and ensuring every demand can be met to the highest standards. The Hadlow-based company identified the need to have a fully-fledged bodyshop on site to ensure it delivers the very best service in one place. To accommodate the expansion, the decision was taken to move the showroom to an adjoining building which allowed more cars to be displayed. Later this year work will commence to further redevelop the showroom area in order to enhance the customer experience.
