Could the UK be losing another icon? With the sale of Proton and its stake in Lotus, could Lotus go the way of MG and transfer production to China? According to Bloomberg, Chinese billionaire Li Shufu said his Zhejiang Geely Holding Group will consider producing Lotus sports cars in China after agreeing to purchase stakes in Malaysian carmaker Proton Holdings Bhd. and its British unit.

Jaguar Land Rover to Hire 5,000 Workers

Jaguar Land Rover, Britain’s biggest automaker, will hire 5,000 staff as it boosts its skills in autonomous and electric technology, a welcome business endorsement as Prime Minister Theresa May starts Brexit talks after an election with unexpected results. Jaguar Land Rover, which employs more than 40,000 people globally, said it would hire 1,000 electronic and software engineers as well as 4,000 additional personnel including in manufacturing, most of whom will be based in Britain.

Jaguar Land Rover Reports May 2017 US Sales

Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC today reported May 2017 U.S. sales: Jaguar sales were 3,113 units, a 44 percent increase from 2,164 units in May 2016; Land Rover sales increased slightly to 4,993 units; Jaguar Land Rover May U.S. sales for both brands hit 8,106 units, a 14 percent increase from 7,114 units in May 2016. Aston Martin Reports Strong Q1 Results

Aston Martin Holdings UK Ltd is reporting record first quarter results as strong orders for its flagship DB11 model helped more than double revenues from £92.6 million to £188.3 million, with a pre-tax profit of £5.9 million reversing prior-year losses of £29.7 million. Demand for the DB11 sports car and other specialist models coincided with the company’s completion of a £550 million refinancing to enhance liquidity, reduce borrowing costs and increase financial reserves. JLR Finishes Fiscal Year with Record Sales

Jaguar Land Rover Automotive plc (JLR), the UK’s largest vehicle manufacturer, today reported a strong fourth quarter to finish the fiscal year with solid results demonstrating encouraging demand for both new and established models in the period to March 31, 2017. Retail sales were a record 604,009 vehicles, up 16% on the previous year led by the 2017 World Car and World Car Design of the Year award-winning Jaguar F-PACE and continuing strong demand for the Land Rover Discovery Sport and other models in the Jaguar Land Rover portfolio. Retail sales were up year-on-year in China (32%), North America (24%), the UK (16%) and Europe (13%).
