MINI USA has released the listing of 2018 model year pricing and equipment updates. Following are the equipment updates and pricing by model.
All Models
Rear View Camera and Rear Park Distance Control
As of model year 2018, all MINI vehicles will come standard with rearview camera and Rear Park Distance Control. The standard rearview camera comes one year ahead of U.S. regulations that will require all new cars to have one. In addition, the rear PDC enriches the user experience with an audio tone when an object is detected, on-screen guidance lines and red/yellow/green graphics, and for vehicles equipped with excitement package 4V9, corresponding red/yellow/green warning on the Center Instrument LED ring.
As rear camera and rear PDC are now standard on all models, the Technology Package (ZTP) will now include Front and Rear PDC with Parallel Parking Assistant (5DP), which was previously a $500 additional upgrade.
Paint Pricing
The paint pricing structure introduced with the new Countryman is being extended to all other MINI models as of the 2018 model year.
As such, Moonwalk Grey will be a “no charge” paint color, while the John Cooper Works Rebel Green (JCW only) and MINI Yours Lapisluxury Blue will be an additional $1,000. All other paint colors are available as a $500 upgrade.
Please note that not all colors are available for all models and variants. See ordering guides for more details.
Equipment, Package and Option Changes
Switchgear for Driving Modes and Head-Up Display
To simplify use of the optional Head-Up Display system, the on/off control is moving to the center screen – the same place where adjustments are made, such as brightness, height, and rotation.
Going forward, the toggle switch to the farthest right will be used to select the vehicle’s driving mode (if equipped with 4VA). This toggle switch replaces the previous ring-style selector at the base of the gearshift lever.
Manual Lumbar Support
For models with manual lumbar adjustment, manual lumbar support has been removed from the following upholsteries:
- Cloth/Dinamica Comb. – Carbon Black
- Cloth/Leatherette Comb. – Black Pearl
- Cloth/Leather Comb. – Cord – Carbon Black
- Cloth/Leather Comb. – Diamond – Carbon Black
- Cloth/Leather Comb. – Diamond – Malt Brown
Fuel Gauge
The fuel gauge has been redesigned for all models.
Turn Signal/Wiper Stalks
The windshield wiper and turn signal stalks used for the new MINI Countryman, which stay in position rather than immediately returning to center, will be adopted by all other models.
MINI Clubman and Countryman:
Apple CarPlay
From July production onward, Apple CarPlay support will come as part of Technology Package (ZTP) in the Clubman and Countryman.
Apple CarPlay enables owners to use many of their iPhone features and Apple’s familiar user interface on the car’s in-dash screen. They don’t even need to plug in. (For more information about Apple CarPlay, visit www.apple/com/ios/carplay).
Note that Model Year 2018 John Cooper Works Countryman ALL4 and Cooper S E Countryman ALL4 (PHEV) vehicles produced from March 2017 through the end of June 2017 cannot support Apple CarPlay.
