Once again Abingdon Spares participated in and helped to sponsor the British Reliability Run, this time the Connecticut version, over the weekend of September 14, 15, and 16. We completed over 650 trouble free miles from Newtown, CT all the way up to Lake Placid, NY and back in two and a half days. A total of 8 teams participated in this inaugural event, two Spitfires, two TR6s, two MGBs, one MGA, and an NG, some of you may know this British Kit Car, designed like a classic roadster and based on MGB mechanicals, a very clever idea.

The Connecticut Triumph Register in conjunction with the CT MG club is proud to present the first Connecticut British Reliability Run. The event is scheduled for September 14-16, 2018. The goal is to field 24 British cars/teams and raise funds to benefit The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp. The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp was founded by Paul Newman. This organization is dedicated to providing “a different kind of healing” to seriously ill children and their families throughout the northeast, free of charge. The event will begin at GMT Racing in Newtown, CT, run through the Adirondacks over the weekend and will end at Lime Rock Park in Lime Rock, CT with a cookout. It will be a great fall drive through the beautiful countryside in the company of fellow British car friends.

2017 will be the 22nd Greenwich Concours! Recognized as one of the premier concours in the country, Greenwich is unique in that it is two concours back to back. Saturday is the Concours Americana for American cars and motorcycles, while Sunday is the Concours International for imported marques. Saturday will feature a circle of contemporary supercars, both American and foreign. Saturday’s ticket allows you to preview all of the cars in the Bonhams auction tent. We will also have our first ever Hot Rod Class and a sure-to-please display of children’s cars. Be sure to join us Saturday night for the duPont REGISTRY Live party at the Delamar Hotel, with a sumptuous buffet and luxurious yachts. 47th Annual AMOC-East – The AMOC North America East’s premier annual event. Interlaken Inn, Lakeville, Ct. A Multi-day event including a concours, racing at Lime Rock race track, a rally through the beautiful Berkshires and a fabulous award dinner. This starts with a road tour on Thursday morning that concludes with a fine luncheon at a member’s restored country manse. Friday sees the white glove crowd gather on the lawn across from the Interlaken Inn to display the finest Astons to be found. In fact, there are cars here that get shipped in from all over the US and Canada. Lastly, the Track day at Lime Rock Park takes place on Saturday with some incredibly rare cars at speed.

Our video this week is one I thought I had shown you all before, but I guess not. This video is drone footage of the 2014 British by the Sea car show, held annually in Connecticut. The 2014 show was the 27th annual gathering and saw over 400 amazing British cars, from classic to modern, small roadsters to large off-roads, daily drivers to treasured show cars. This gathering was organized by Connecticut MG Club. The video was captured with gimbal-stabilized GoPro Hero3 on DJI F550 Hexacopter.

Last years CTR British Motorcar Gathering and Picnic was held at Wickham Park on Sunday September 13th. Not a drop of rain fell there but unfortunately it rained in other parts of the state, leading to only 30 cars coming to the event. Those in attendance, however, enjoyed themselves as nearly everyone went home with a raffle prize, a show award, and in some cases both! And many took advantage of the food provided by Boy Scout Troop 28 of Hebron. They featured a delicious Triumph Burger complete with sausage, peppers, and mushrooms.

The CT MG Club’s “BRITISH BY THE SEA” is a fun Gathering of people who own and appreciate British Vehicles. Our BBTS Gathering is always scheduled on the first Sunday in June, at the scenic 240-acre Harkness Memorial State Park in Waterford Ct., on the north shore if Long Island Sound. We want to encourage people to come down and enjoy a day mingling with other LBC owners, talk about cars, have a picnic, a glass of wine, and also take in all that Harkness Memorial State Park has to offer, such as the beach, the Mansion Eolia, and the Gardens. The CT MG Club donates a large amount of our proceeds from BBTS to the Park to purchase plants for the West Gardens, helping to restore the “Eolia” Gardens to their original grandeur as designed by Beatrix Farrand in 1919. The Connecticut MG Club‘s British By The Sea Gathering will be held June 7, 2015 at Harkness Memorial Stat Park in Waterford, CT. British By The Sea is not a Concours Event, but rather, it is a popular vote, fun Gathering. At the 2014 event, our final count was over 430 British vehicles displayed in 35 Classes, with etched glass mugs being awarded for first, second and third place in each class.. While we do have four excellent food vendors, we also encourage you to bring you own food, snacks, and refreshments to enjoy and share out of the “boot” of your car. Entrants come from throughout New England, the Mid-Atlantic States and Canada to take part in this popular event at the beautiful Harkness Memorial State Park.
