On September 12, 2021, the Brooklands Museum will be presenting a special tribute to their former President Sir Stirling Moss OBE who passed away in April 2020. Moss, who was their first President, began racing in 1948, was one of the most famous and recognizable figures in motorsport from the 1950s to the present day.

The event will be a celebration of Moss’s racing life and the centerpiece will be a unique collection of over 35 Moss-driven cars, including the Rob Walker Team winning 1960 Monaco GP Lotus 18, the F1 Fergusson P99 4‐wheel drive as well as a 1958 F1 Vanwall and transporter. The Museum will also be holding live demonstrations on the finishing straight, and members banking as well as driver/owner pitlane interviews.

The Museum’s commentator for the event will be motoring broadcaster and author Simon Taylor. In addition, there will be static displays of Classic Jaguars and 1950s/60s period cars, a 1960s Paddock, Brooklands Drivers Club and live 1960s music.

Stirling Moss Tribute Event at Brooklands Museum Champion Timber

Brooklands Members can join the owners & drivers of the wonderful Moss cars in the ‘Brooklands Driving Club’ throughout the day. Advanced tickets to the Brooklands Driving Club are £40pp and include all-day tea & coffee, breakfast roll, and a self-service buffet lunch. The Italian F1 Grand Prix will be shown during the day. These exclusive tickets are limited in number.

The main event will be free for Brooklands Members, via a pre‐booked ticket only. Normal entry prices will apply for all other visitors.

Tickets go on sale soon, so be sure to book early in case numbers have to be limited.

Legendary British sports car maker AC Cars is returning home to Britain to build its cars at Brooklands in Surrey. The company that built the iconic AC Cobra had been based in Malta but a legal dispute over the factory has prompted the return to Britain. Owner of the AC brand, Acedes Holdings LLC, struck the new deal with AC specialist Brooklands Motor Company, which has been based in Jack Brabham’s former workshops in Weybridge, Surrey, for the past two decades. The company will make the original AC Ace, the AC MK11, the AC MK11 FIA and the AC MK111 at the Brooklands facility. Now in its fifth year, the annual Motorsport Festival at the Brooklands Museum in Weybridge, Surrey always has something new to amaze visitors. Among the vast number of competition cars from all eras booked to appear on Sunday 11th October, this year’s Festival will for the first time be welcoming the 22.3-litre W12-engined Napier-Campbell Blue Bird. In 1927, on the Pendine Sands in Wales, this Land Speed Record car set a new record at an average 174.883mph on the two-way run, with Malcolm Campbell at the wheel. What’s more, the Blue Bird will be run with the Napier-Railton, the all-time Brooklands lap record-holder – and a car that broke 47 world speed records between 1933 and 1937. A classic 1948 Jaguar sports saloon, first owned by Arthur Whittaker, the Deputy Chairman of Jaguar Cars, has been reunited with his family 67 years after he parted with it.
