MINI JCW Finishes Out Second Street Tuner Season

The MINI JCW Team and MINI USA completed their second full season competing in the Street Tuner class of the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge series with a hard-fought final race of the season on Friday at Road Atlanta. The team qualified P9, P10 and P11 after an early morning qualifying session on Friday. The #73 MINI JCW driven by Jones and Pombo had a strong day, starting 10th and quickly climbing through the field to put the team in seventh place. With under 10 minutes left in the race, a caution came out to pack up the field which gave Pombo a great opportunity to gain position before the checkered flag. As the field prepared to take the final restart, the third, fourth and fifth place cars collided. Pombo maneuvered through the wreckage to emerge in 3rd place.

Yet another thrilling season of motorsport has come to a close for Morgan and Wolverhampton University as the 2017 AR Motorsport Morgan Challenge ends with the final round of the year at Snetterton. Each of the Morgan race cars is now back in their respective garages and workshops, ready for winter enhancements, rebuilds, and the occasional test. The 2017 season is the second year of Morgan’s partnership with the University of Wolverhampton that began in 2016, the on-going collaboration has seen the two companies combine resources both on and off the race track.

Elliot Paterson has claimed his second AR Motorsport Morgan Challenge Championship, at the wheel of a new Morgan ARV6. The Scottish racer dominated this year’s championship, wrapping up the series with 2 races to go. He was officially crowned champion at the final Morgan Challenge race of the season at Snetterton last weekend. Paterson finished ahead of fellow Revolutions Morgan racer, Tim Parsons.

Jaguar Land Rover Sales for September 2017

Retail sales for Jaguar Land Rover totaled 65,097 vehicles in September, up 7% on September 2016, following strong sales across the majority of key regions. Retail sales in September were up 20% year-on-year in China, 17% in North America, 10% in Overseas markets and 1% in Europe. Due to difficult market conditions, retail sales were down in the UK (4%).

AMOC Racing Season Ends in Style at Silverstone

Silverstone on Saturday, September 30th saw the 2017 AMOC (Aston Martin Owner’s Club) Racing season sign off in style with bumper grids and great racing. A dramatic combined Intermarque and GT Challenge race saw Richard Cook and Harvey Stanley battle hard for their win, while Rob Hollyman dominated in the Intermarque but third was enough to give Bob Searles the Individual Championship title. The AMOC ‘50s Sports Cars including the Vredestein JEC XK Challenge opened the day’s racing and on lap one the Cooper Bristol of John Ure slipped by poleman Dan Crowton’s Lotus at Luffield to take the lead and later the win, Crowton losing out again a lap later as the Cooper Monaco of Tony Ditheridge, up from fifth on the grid, moved into second with the MGA of Max Cawthorn moving into third.

Former British Olympic Skier Graham Bell has set a new Guinness World Records title for the ‘fastest towed speed on skis’, pulled by the new Jaguar XF Sportbrake. After only a couple of practice attempts it was clear that Graham and the XF Sportbrake were more than up to the challenge and he went on to smash the target set by Guinness World Records by over 47mph, achieving an average top speed of 117mph at Jaguar Land Rover’s Arctic Revi Test Centre in Arjeplog, Sweden.

Jaguar Land Rover Classic has launched a brand new Classic Drive event at Eastnor Castle, allowing guests to experience the terrain where Land Rover honed many of its legendary all-terrain vehicles, and to get behind the wheel of some of the most beautiful Jaguars ever made. Based at the spectacular 5000-acre Eastnor Castle estate in Herefordshire, the new Classic Drive experience will see visitors tackling Eastnor’s thick mud and challenging slopes in some of the vehicles that helped establish the Land Rover legend. The Land Rover story began with the Series I in 1948, a spartan but unstoppable four-wheel-drive vehicle originally designed for farm and industrial use. This Classic Drive experience offers guests a rare insight into where Land Rover’s off-road DNA was developed from the early 1960s by getting them behind the wheel of an early Series I.

It was already known that MG Motor India, the completely owned subsidiary of SAIC Motor Corp, will be beginning its operations in the country in 2019. In line with its plan, the company recently completed the acquisition of GM’s Halol plant. The first product that will roll out from the MG’s Halol plant will be launched in the Indian market in 2019. This will be followed by the launch of the next product in the following year.

Aston Martin has released a new video of the V8 DB11. The V8-powered DB11 is the first Aston Martin to receive an engine supplied by technical partners, Mercedes-AMG. Producing 510PS (503BHP) and 675Nm of torque, the V8 engine’s potency is beyond question, propelling the DB11 from 0-62mph in just 4.0sec and on to a top speed of 187mph. The inherent qualities of this light, compact and characterful power unit make it the ideal choice to sit alongside the existing V12 engine.
