Art Series – The Evolution of British Sports Cars

David Townsend of Sports Car Art has announced a new collection of prints featuring the evolution of different models of classic British sports cars. These works are available either as prints for framing or as backlit or unlit box displays.

Currently available titles include:
   • Triumph TR3
• Triumph TR4-TR6
• Jaguar XK
• Jaguar E-Type
• Austin-Healey 100
• MG T-Type

In addition to those listed above, David says that upcoming subjects will include the MG Midget, Austin-Healey 100-6, Austin-Healey 3000, Austin-Healey Sprite, and Sunbeam Alpine. (Now if we could just get him to do a Land Rover!)

TR3 Evolution Print

Evolution prints are sized 22″ x 29″ and are printed on high definition, art quality matte paper using naturally pigmented inks for rich, vibrant color. The price per print is just $65 each and the print runs are limited to 100  per car.

Evolution art displays are 40″ x 60″, printed using dye-sublimation, and mounted in an extruded aluminum frame (assembly required). These large-scale graphics are available in backlit or unlit versions and as wall mounted or free-standing units. The display editions start at $1185 and are limited to a run of only 25 pieces per subject.

These are wonderful, highly detailed prints, and well worth checking out. And speaking of the detail in these prints, it should be noted that David does the original artwork for his prints at full-size. Yes, when he is designing each of the cars out he is digitally working at a 1-to-1 scale. What this means is that he can actually produce prints in that full size if needed, and he is now beginning to do so.

Produced out of a meeting between David and Doug Buchanan (owner of Arnolt-Bristol and a Jaguar S1 coupe and others) owner of Renze Display, Garage Graphics is a new production venture. Garage Graphics will be producing not only the display versions of the Evolution prints above but has also future full-sized works such as the one seen below.

In addition to all of these great new works, we should mention that not only is Sports Car Art a supporter of many British car meets and friend and advertiser of ours, but they are also having their annual winter sale. So check them out and also stay tuned for news of new works as they become available.
