A British icon that was designed by Aston Martin in the late 1970’s to show off the capabilities of its new engineering facility is to be restored by CMC, Classic Motor Cars in Bridgnorth. The Aston Martin Bulldog, styled by William Towns, is a one off concept car that Aston Martin created to prove that it was not only a small company of renowned motoring artisans but that it’s engineering prowess was also world class.

Friday, Aston Martin Lagonda welcomed His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales to its new manufacturing facility at St Athan in Wales. The visit was also enjoyed by a group of Aston Martin apprentices and school children from the local area who came along to see the new facility. Aston Martin Lagonda, St Athan now also bears a plaque, commemorating the Royal visit, which was presented to the team by His Royal Highness.

The new manufacturing facility where Lotus will build the Evija all-electric hypercar is being readied for final prototype production. Series production and first customer deliveries of the all-electric two-seater will begin in the summer.

The Morgan Motor Company has launched an immersive 3D online configurator for its newest model, the Plus Six. Featuring high-fidelity graphics and the Plus Six’s extensive range of options, it makes the perfect tool both for customers to finalize the specification of their car, and for enthusiasts to imagine their dream Morgan. The Plus Six is the first Morgan to have been designed entirely using computer aided design (CAD), which has allowed the car to be modeled in the configurator with total accuracy. Combined with the integration of games development software and WebGL technology, it allows for a photo-realistic 3D representation of the car. The user can move the car to view it from any angle, and even zoom in to view its features in detail.

Aston Martin Racing’s presence at the pinnacle of US endurance motorsport is to be significantly increased, with the British sportscar manufacturer returning to the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship GTD class in 2020. Two Aston Martin Vantage GT3s will contest the blue riband Rolex 24 at Daytona race next weekend (25-26 January), while new partner team Heart of Racing will run a full season program this year. Aston Martin Racing has entered a Vantage GT3 supported by NorthWest Healthcare in the Rolex 24, alongside Heart of Racing’s entry. Jaguar Land Rover retail sales in November 2019 were 46,542 vehicles, down 3.4% compared to November 2018. Sales continued to improve in China (up 29.0% year-on-year) marking the fifth consecutive month of double-digit sales growth in the region. North America also grew (4.9%), achieving best ever November sales levels. Sales were down in the UK (-10.8% reflecting lower industry and lower incentives on selected models), Europe (-16.8%, largely reflecting higher sales a year ago ahead of tax changes in certain jurisdictions), and Overseas (-16.7%, largely Russia and MENA).

The Morgan Motor Company is to continue its technology drive with the launch of new models based on its recently introduced CX-Generation aluminium platform. MG Motor UK has maintained its position as the UK’s fastest-growing car manufacturer after posting its 25th consecutive month of year-on-year growth in November. MG recorded 1,186 sales over the course of the month, a 29% increase compared to last November. MG also achieved a record monthly market share since, securing 0.76% of the new car market. Year-to-date, MG has sold 11,373 cars, 35% more than in the same 11 months last year.
