The first owners of the Aston Martin Vulcan travelled to Abu Dhabi last week to receive world-class tuition from an elite team of racing drivers, led by Aston Martin Racing works’ driver Darren Turner. Leading members of the Bentley design team were at the German Design Awards in Frankfurt to collect Gold in the Transportation category for Bentley’s EXP 10 Speed 6 concept car. The German Design Council selects a panel of international design experts to judge the entries, and the awards are among the most prestigious in their field. They selected the EXP 10 Speed 6 for the Gold award as a result of its timeless, iconic Bentley design, clever use of new materials and aesthetic dynamism. Bentley’s Director of Design, Stefan Sielaff, was joined by SangYup Lee (Head of Exterior Design), Romulus Rost (Head of Interior Design and Colour and Trim) and Head of Modelling and Design Operations, Kevin Baker, at the award ceremony in Frankfurt. BBC has announced that racing driver Sabine Schmitz, YouTube star Chris Harris, F1 pundit Eddie Jordan and motoring journalist Rory Reid will join Chris Evans, Matt LeBlanc and of course, The Stig, when Top Gear returns in May. Eddie Jordan, once ran his own Formula One team with drivers like Michael Schumacher and Damon Hill on the roster. He said: “I have such enormous respect for all my fellow presenters and I politely ask that they go easy on these old bones.”

Zenos Cars has begun production of the super high-performance Zenos E10 R, following the final sign-off of its suspension settings. The pinnacle of the E10 range is now being produced alongside its E10 and E10 S stablemates at the Zenos factory in Wymondham, Norfolk, UK. The Zenos E10 R is the third variant of the company’s widely-acclaimed E10 sports car line-up and uses a turbocharged 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine that produces 350 bhp and 475 Nm torque. With a dry weight of just 700 kg, the E10 R boasts 500 bhp/tonne, enabling it to hit 60 mph (100 km/h) from standstill in as little as 3.0 seconds. Yet with copious torque available across a wide range of engine speeds, its enormous performance can be enjoyed at all times.

José Mourinho has mastered the art of high-speed drifting and full throttle ice driving on a 60km frozen lake at Jaguar Land Rover’s extreme testing facility in Arjeplog, Sweden. The sporting icon was testing a high-performance Jaguar F-PACE S as part of an extreme driver training experience just 40 miles from the Arctic Circle. In 2017, the Jaguar Ice Drive Experience will be available to customers from all over the world.

MG Motor UK is celebrating a great start to 2016 with a 132% increase on January sales after 313 vehicles were registered last month. Figures released today from The Society of Motoring Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) shows that last year MG sold 135 cars in January. This year, due to growing awareness in the brand and a range of great deals, the manufacturer has seen a percentage change of 131.85%. In December, popular offers such as the £2,000 minimum part-exchange contributed to MG finishing the year with a surge in sales. The offer was continued for another month and finished on 31st January. Aston Martin will celebrate the opening of a brand new dealership this summer when Aston Martin Bristol opens its doors to customers in the south-west of the UK. The new dealership – located in Cribbs Causeway, close to Junction 17 of the M5 motorway – is the first Aston Martin dealership for the Dick Lovett Group. Aston Martin Bristol will cover the entire south-west of the UK, offering new and used Aston Martins for sale, along with a full service centre, creating more than 20 new jobs in the process. MG will enter the highly competitive compact SUV segment in Europe with the new GS in June, 2016. Originally unveiled last year in Shanghai, the vehicle will be ready, in its final form, for the 2016 London Motor Show, where it premiere on May 6.   Dynamic. Sporty. Modern. Three words given to the MG car designers before putting pen to paper. From those first sketches, which were pinned to the wall of the Birmingham based design centre, the MG GS was born and this June it launches in the UK.

Land Rover celebrated 68 years of history today as the last of the current Defenders was produced at its famous Solihull production facility. To mark the occasion Land Rover invited more than 700 current and former Solihull employees involved in the production of Series Land Rover and Defender vehicles to see and drive some of the most important vehicles from its history, including the first pre-production ‘Huey’ Series I as well as the last vehicle off the production line, a Defender 90 Heritage Soft Top. At the same time, Land Rover announced a new Heritage Restoration Programme, which will be based on the site of the existing Solihull production line.
