Two New Triumph Bikes Launched on Avon Tires

Avon Tyres’ acclaimed Cobra tires have been selected as the original equipment (OE) fitment tires for two stylish new bikes launched by Triumph Motorcycles.

The British manufacturer unveiled the two new motorcycles, the Triumph Speedmaster and Triumph Bobber Black, at an event last Tuesday.

A bespoke version of Avon’s Cobra product was specially designed and selected as the OE fit for the original Bobber when it was launched last October.

The Bonneville Speedmaster is sure to be a big success in the US market among others – and both it and the new Bobber Black are both shod with MT90B16 & 150/80R16 Cobra front and rear tires straight from the Triumph production line.

The Bobber Black has even more attitude, and blacked out styling, and by working closely with Avon’s in-house development team, both firms were able to come up with the perfect riding solution – an all-new Cobra tire, with special carcass construction and materials to suit the Bobber’s unique set-up.

British GT Entries Revealed

An entry list of 27 cars has been revealed for the 2008 Avon Tyres British GT Championship featuring 19 cars in GT3 and eight in the new GT4 class. Defending champions RPM will run two cars in the GT3 class and also expand into GT4 with a further three cars. Former BTCC race-winner Paul O’Neill will partner Steve Clark in the #1 entry while Nick Foster will be partnered by experienced youngster Oliver Bryant in the sister car. In GT4, the team will run three Ginetta G50s for the pairings of Steve Tandy/Phil Bailey, Joe Osbourne/Michael Broadhurst and Chris Cooke/James Harrison. Staff

  1. I’d have that bobtail in a New York minute but, alas, when I checked, they were not available. Probably just as well. If I brought one home I think it would constitute a home built divorce kit.
