More than 130 dealer representatives attended MG Motor UK’s annual Dealer Conference and Dealer of the Year Awards in Birmingham last week, marking the start of an exciting and busy year ahead for the iconic British brand. Dealers were treated to the official unveiling of the New MG ZS EV, the iconic British brand’s first battery electric car which is set to launch in September 2019. They also heard about “Momentum & Growth”, MG’s mid-term sales plan which will drive the business to treble its sales volumes over the coming years. Significantly, MG also used the Dealer Conference to announce the launch of its aftersales customer retention programme, a key initiative to generate increased service profitability through the rapidly growing MG parc.
McLaren Automotive, the British creator of luxury sports cars and supercars, announces its newest retailer – McLaren Bellevue. Operated by OpenRoad Auto Group of Bellevue, Washington, McLaren Bellevue provides the Pacific Northwest with a local touchpoint for sales and service operations, allowing clients and potential clients in the area easier access to McLaren’s renowned customer service experience. A new facility for McLaren Bellevue is under construction now and is expected to open in the fourth quarter of 2019. Families in Cardiff, Wales, will soon be able to add a new car to their shopping list following the launch of MG’s second UK concept store. Based in St David’s Dewi Sant, which attracts more than 38 million visitors a year, MG’s first such store outside of London will offer a dynamic, immersive and modern retail experience for customers. The 1,610-square foot retail boutique has been designed to reinvent the car buying journey. The store features a video screen wall, interactive iPad stations and will also include a dedicated lifestyle space. A collection of vehicles will be on display, representing models in the MG3 and MG GS ranges, with the much-anticipated MG XS in store by early November.

The event, which took place on 12 January as part of the company’s national conference, celebrated outstanding achievement from across the network. Nathaniel MG took home the prestigious Dealer of the Year accolade, alongside being named Top MG3 Selling Dealer. Part of the network since 2015, the Bridgend-based business was recognised for delivering exceptional service for customers across South Wales.

She bought one of MG’s top-selling MG3 superminis. Coral said: “I was in Bideford for a long weekend and fancied a test drive, which Dave kindly arranged for me on the Saturday afternoon.

MG has launched a new deal where almost any old banger attracts a trade-in value of £3,000. The company claims the deal is probably the most generous on the market at the moment, with any roadworthy car with at least 14 days’ MOT remaining qualifying for the generous valuation. The offer, which evokes memories of the ’scrappage’ incentive scheme of several years ago, is redeemable against either of the two MG6 models in the range; the Magnette and the GT fastback. Meanwhile, another offer on the two cars entices buyers with a fuel card pre-loaded to the value of £2,400 and usable at Tesco and Morrisons’ supermarket filling stations. MG has exclusively revealed to Car Dealer Magazine the 10 most important towns and cities it wants to find new dealers for. The UK car manufacturer, which was relaunched in 2008 with the backing of Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation, wants to establish showrooms in the following eight locations in England: Birmingham, Derby, Leeds, Liverpool, Nottingham, Northampton, Swindon and South London. The firm, which has recently launched a new range of models that have been designed and engineered at its 69-acre site in Longbridge, Birmingham, also wants to establish outlets in Glasgow and Edinburgh. MG’s list of potential dealership locations also includes more than 20 medium-priority locations, including Brighton, Exeter and Guildford in the south of England, and Blackpool, Burnley and Carlisle further north.
