Successful Jaguar XK Club Round Britain Coastal Tour 2017

With the 2017 18-day, 4000-mile ‘Jaguar XK Club Round Britain Coastal Tour, supporting Prostate Cancer UK’ completed, the 100+ classic XKs involved and their crews can now take a rest and reflect on a very successful event. The main aim of this unique event was to raise funds and awareness of this cancer which kills a man in the UK every 45 minutes. The fund-raising target was £50,000 and this has now been exceeded.

Participants in the Round Britain Coastal Drive (RBCD) will raise crucial awareness of prostate cancer, which kills more than 10,000 men in Britain every year. London-based XK Club member Patrick Hanratty, who will take part in all 18 stages of the RBCD in his British Racing Green XK 150 Drop Head Coupé, understands the importance of this more than most. Having recently come through bowel cancer, he is now being treated for prostate cancer and will speak of his experiences after some group dinners during RBCD. Morgan Motor Company today announces that its Charity of the Year partner for 2017 is the British Heart Foundation (BHF). Rolls-Royce Chauffeurs Adopt Animal Personae for Charity

Tonight, a collection of Rolls-Royce motor cars will join the great and the good in support of the Animal Ball, hosted by the Elephant Family charity.  A troop of ‘White Glove chauffeurs’, a term coined by the marque to describe exemplary performance in the art of chauffeuring, will adopt animal personae as they spirit guests to London’s premier masked Ball. The event will raise valuable funds to help solve human-animal conflict and the issues facing wildlife. The evening is set to be attended by the crème of the London social scene who will be conveyed in a collection of Rolls-Royces. Phantom, Ghost, Wraith and Dawn motor cars which will spirit guests from a series of dinners hosted by London’s luminaries at some of the city’s most exclusive venues.

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars supported Mission Motorsport at the charity’s annual invitational track day, held this year at the Goodwood Motor Circuit. Mission Motorsport was set up to aid in the recovery and rehabilitation of those affected by military operations by providing opportunities through motorsport. More than 50 servicemen and women and their families were given the opportunity to be chauffeured around the glorious Goodwood Motor Circuit in a Rolls-Royce Wraith Black Badge, the most powerful Rolls-Royce in the world. Also displayed was the new Rolls-Royce Dawn, presented in Midnight Sapphire with a Mandarin leather interior.

The E-type Club’s ROUND BRITAIN COASTAL DRIVE, supporting Prostate Cancer UK is really gathering momentum. Over 100 Jaguar E-types have already booked for one or more of the 18 daily stages around the coastal roads of Great Britain. One of those is Formula 1 legend Ross Brawn who masterminded Michael Schumacher’s seven World Championships. Brawn has a fantastic collection of cars, reflecting his time with Ferrari, Mercedes-Benz and Jaguar, including a pair of stunning E-types.

Sir Peter Blake Pop Art Bentley to Raise Money for Charity

Bentley Motors has teamed up with the godfather of British pop art, Sir Peter Blake, to create a one-of-a-kind Bentley Continental GT V8 S Convertible. This unique car will be auctioned for charity by Bonhams at the Goodwood Festival of Speed on 24 June. Bentley commissioned Sir Peter to deliver the world’s first pop art Bentley, drawing on inspiration from the acclaimed artist’s celebrated career at the forefront of the famous British pop art movement. Bentley has donated the car to the Care2Save Charitable Trust, which provides palliative and hospice care around the world.

Defender 2,000,000 Auctions for Record Price

A one-of-a-kind Land Rover Defender sold for a record £400,000 at a prestigious charity auction at Bonhams tonight, from which all proceeds are being donated to Land Rover’s humanitarian and conservation partners. This is the thought to be the most valuable production Land Rover ever to be sold at auction. The unique vehicle, the two-millionth of the iconic Series Land Rover and Defender models manufactured at Land Rover’s Solihull plant since 1948, was sold to a bidder from Qatar. The vehicle was built in May 2015 by an all-star cast of brand ambassadors and people from Land Rover’s history including Bear Grylls, Virginia McKenna OBE and Stephen and Nick Wilks, sons of the founders of Land Rover. America’s British Reliability Run, a three-day rally in classic British cars for charity, rides again! The dates are October 16th to 18th. In 2013, twelve teams from all various marque clubs and all over the region ran a 750 mile route through Pennsylvania and raised over $9,000 for the Children’s Specialized Hospital in NJ. This year, at least twenty-seven ABRR teams will be driving through some of Pennsylvania, New York, and New Jersey’s most scenic roadways at a time when fall color should be near its peak.
