Candidates with strategic leadership experience are being sought for the position, which represents a rare opportunity to play a central role in taking the National Motor Museum forwards, as part of an ambitious new strategy. Responsible for delivering the Museum’s mission, vision and strategy, the Chief Executive will play a key role in raising its profile and visitor numbers significantly and to ensure its long-term sustainability.

The National Motor Museum, at the heart of the Beaulieu visitor attraction, features a range of over 280 vehicles spanning from the earliest motor carriages to legendary Land Speed Record breakers. The National Motor Museum Trust’s collections, which include a specialist reference library and extensive collection of motoring artifacts, photographic images, film, and video, have been designated by the Arts Council England of international importance.

Edward, Lord Montagu founded the National Motor Museum in 1972 and it has grown to become a leading independent museum and charity, with a mission to engage and inspire people with the story of motoring through world-class collections, as well as preserve and promote motoring history.

With the Museum marking its 50th anniversary in 2022, and the world of motoring experiencing changes that are the most fundamental since the late 19th century, the National Motor Museum Trust is working with Trustees, supporters, staff and other stakeholders on a transformational five-year strategic plan, which the Chief Executive will contribute to and realise as they lead the team.

With the Chief Executive acting as an advocate and ambassador for the organisation, developing partnerships and building relationships, this is a hugely exciting moment for the organisation, as it reopens after Covid, invests in its own strategic leader, celebrates the last 50 years and looks forward to the next 50.
