Order books for the Land Rover Defender 90 have opened following the successful launch of the Defender 110. New Defender is the toughest and most capable Land Rover ever made and delivers 21st century connectivity with unstoppable off-road performance. The first Defender 110 models will be delivered to customers from spring this year with three-door, short-wheelbase Defender 90 models due to arrive later this summer.

On January 30, 2020, Mr Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, Tata Motors and Jaguar Land Rover plc announced that Prof Sir Ralf Speth had decided to retire from his current role as Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of Jaguar Land Rover at the end of his contract term in September 2020.

Jaguar Land Rover retail sales in February 2019 were 38,288 vehicles, down 4.1% compared to February last year. Strong sales of I-PACE, E-PACE, refreshed Range Rover and Range Rover Sport were offset by overall weak customer demand in China as well as the run out of the old Range Rover Evoque, with sales of the all-new Evoque expected to ramp up over the coming months. Jaguar Land Rover is the first car maker to put its cars to the test with the AIR Index – and the new independent on-road emissions testing procedure has found that Jaguar Land Rover diesel models have some of the lowest NOx emissions of any car on sale today. The models independently tested for the AIR Index were 180hp 2.0-liter diesel Ingenium 4WD versions of the Jaguar E-PACE, Land Rover Discovery Sport and outgoing Range Rover Evoque. The AIR Index has previously rated the Land Rover Discovery 3.0TD6. All four achieved an ‘A’ rating – the top rating possible – signifying that each of them emits between 0-80mg/km of nitrogen oxides or NOx.

The Range Rover Sport effortlessly combines dynamic on-road handling, luxurious refinement and trademark Land Rover all-terrain capability. The introduction of an all-new 400PS in-line six-cylinder 3.0-liter petrol engine enhances performance, refinement, and responses along with improved fuel economy. Available initially on the special edition HST model, the all-new 400PS Ingenium engine is more responsive and better balanced than the previous V6 petrol. With 550Nm of torque, it powers the Range Rover Sport from 0-100km/h (0-62mph) in 6.2 seconds (0-60mph in 5.9 seconds) and to a top speed of 140mph (225km/h). Jaguar Land Rover is expanding its Ingenium engine family with a new six-cylinder petrol engine designed and engineered in-house and manufactured at its £1 billion Engine Manufacturing Centre (EMC) in Wolverhampton, UK. The 3.0-liter straight six-cylinder petrol engine, which will debut on the Range Rover Sport, is available in 360PS and 400PS versions with torque capable of up to 495 and 550Nm, is more responsive and better balanced than the outgoing V6 petrol. It features a unique combination of an electric supercharger to deliver immediate response supported by a twin-scroll turbocharger and Continuous Variable Valve Lift, which boosts power and help the engine to breathe with maximum efficiency. These performance-boosting technologies, combined with Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle (MHEV) technology, optimizes performance, fuel economy and reduces emissions. Thursday at the Chicago Auto Show, Land Rover revealed the next generation Range Rover Evoque for the first time in the U.S. In true Land Rover fashion, the new Range Rover Evoque made its dynamic debut on an indoor off-road experience course at the McCormick Place convention center. Chicago-based, brother-sister R&B artists, Solo and Jaime Woods provided a live soundtrack to the debut of the Range Rover Evoque and stayed on hand to entertain guests throughout the luncheon that followed. Angela Brantley and Rhea Fernandez, founders of Chicago-based luxury fashion brand, HERO/BLACK, were also in attendance to help celebrate the debut of the vehicle.

 Jaguar Land Rover today reported January 2019 US sales: Land Rover had its best-ever January sales month with 7,385 units, an increase of 15 percent from 6,446 in January 2018; Jaguar sales were 3,078­­­ units, an 18 percent increase from 2,604 units in January 2018. Jaguar Land Rover total January US sales reached 10,463 units, a 16 percent increase from 9,050 units in January 2018. Jaguar Land Rover has released a very short statement confirming their one-week production shutdown as was done last year. Today we have confirmed this year’s holiday dates to employees across all sites.  As part of this, we have also confirmed that there will be an additional week of production stand-down 8th – 12th April due to potential Brexit disruption.

Jaguar Land Rover has developed a system that projects the direction of travel onto the road ahead of self-driving vehicles, to tell other road users what it is going to do next. The intelligent technology beams a series of projections onto the road to show the future intentions of the vehicle – for example stopping and turning left or right – as part of research into how people can develop their trust in autonomous technology. In the future, the projections could even be used to share obstacle detection and journey updates with pedestrians.

Land Rover broke their United States sales record in 2018, moving 92,143 new trucks. This smashed the prior record from 2017 by a whopping 23 percent. Range Rover and Range Rover Sport also set new single-year sales records, moving 19,030 and 24,282 units, respectively. This December was the best ever, moving 10,617 vehicles, an increase of 33% over the prior record. Range Rover and Range Rover Evoque set new December records, at 2,231 and 1,594. By comparison, from the re-introduction of Land Rover vehicles to North America in March 1987, it took a decade, until mid-1997, to sell as many vehicles as they sold in 2018 alone. Full-size Range Rover sales for 2018 totaled more than half of the entire production of North American Range Rover Classics from 1987 to 1995.

Land Rover will be marking the 30th anniversary of Discovery with a limited-edition exclusively for UK customers. Based on the Discovery Sd6 SE, the ‘Anniversary Edition’ features 22” wheels, fixed panoramic glass roof, privacy glass, a 380W MeridianTM sound system and a choice of metallic paint as standard. A total of 400 Anniversary Editions are available in Santorini Black, Corris Grey Loire Blue or Indus Silver.
