Jaguar unveiled the Type 01 at a world premiere in New York on Tuesday evening, the first production car of the marque’s all-electric new era and, in Jaguar’s own words, the most powerful, aerodynamic and technologically advanced car it has ever made.
The four-door luxury GT is the first production Jaguar built on the new Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA). It is defined by exuberant proportions, with a low roofline, long bonnet and sleek silhouette that Jaguar says began as a single line on a blank sheet of paper. The company is clear about the lineage: Type 01 is meant to stand alongside the great Jaguars of the past, the E-type and XJS among them.
Beneath the clean surfaces the numbers are serious. The bespoke electric platform delivers more than 1,000PS, with an 850-volt electrical architecture good for a 400-mile range on the EPA cycle. On a 350kW charger, Type 01 can add 200 miles of range in 13 minutes.

Type 01 is the foundation of this British brand, one that makes no compromise between design and engineering in our quest to create objects of desire, just as it was in the days of the E-type and XJS,” said Rawdon Glover, Managing Director of Jaguar.
The premiere itself was pure Jaguar theatre. Type 01 carved through closed roads on the West Side, driven by António Félix da Costa of the World Championship-winning Jaguar TCS Racing team, before arriving at STORIED in West Chelsea. Large-scale digital displays in Times Square, DUMBO and the Lower East Side marked the night, British singer-songwriter Sienna Spiro performed an intimate set, and Jaguar announced acclaimed actor Florence Pugh as its inaugural brand ambassador for the new era.
The name carries the message: “Type” nods to Jaguar’s iconic predecessors, “0” signifies zero tailpipe emissions, and “1” marks the first of a new generation. Type 01 is designed, engineered and built in the UK. Orders open in early 2027, with first client deliveries expected in the second half of the year, and prices start from £130,000.
