Speed and performance expert Jamal Hameedi has left Ford Performance to become part of the Jaguar Land Rover SVO. According to his new LinkedIn profile, his title is listed as Engineering Director, SVO at Jaguar Land Rover.
On one of his social media threads, Hameedi said:
After an incredible 27-year career at Ford Motor Company, it is time for something new! I am moving to England to join Jaguar-Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations creating amazing vehicles, such as the SV coupe.
Hameedi had been Ford Performance Chief Engineer since 2013. Hameedi was an important figure at Ford Performance, as he presided over the development of the GT supercar, the Mustang Shelby GT350, the F-150 Raptor, Fiesta ST, and Focus ST and Focus RS.
Before that, he was Ford SVT Chief Engineer since June 2005 and Ford GT Production Manager since 2002. Hameedi attended Washington University in St. Louis, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
Although a great loss for Ford, this move is certainly a win for Jaguar Land Rover SVO and again signals the evolving vision of the company.
The following video from Autoweek features Hameedi discussing the design and engineering of Ford’s F-150 SVT Raptor pickup. He discusses the genesis of the Raptor, intended to be an off-road racing vehicle, with senior exterior designer Bruce Williams.
