Inaugural Scottish Motoring Hall of Fame

The venue for the inaugural Scottish Motoring Hall of Fame presentation will be the Royal Yacht Britannia in Edinburgh, which will play host to the opening party of the 2015 Concours of Elegance on the evening of 3 September 2015.

The Concours of Elegance is among the world’s leading classic car events, and each year is held at a Royal Palace; with this year’s being held at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh from the 4th to 6th September.

Announcing the Scottish Motoring Hall of Fame today, ASMW President, Alisdair Suttie, said: “I am so proud to be at the helm of the ASMW at a time when there is such excitement in the Scottish motoring scene.  Scotland has a very rich heritage in the automotive world, both in terms of racing and the industry, and it is a great honour to celebrate our achievements, which are recognised all over the world, with the first ever inductees to the Scottish Motoring Hall of Fame.  It is a celebration and recognition of the individuals that have helped put Scotland on the world stage when it comes to globally significant achievements on wheels.”

Bridge of Weir Leather Company is a long time supporter of the ASMW, and is headline sponsor of the Scottish Motoring Hall of Fame.  Bridge of Weir Chairman, Jonathan Muirhead, said: “My family has been making leather in Scotland since the 1750s, and for the motor industry since 1905, after which one of our first customers was Henry Ford, so we feel that we have played a part in Scottish motoring heritage and as such it is our great honour to support the Scottish Motoring Hall of Fame.  It is hugely exciting to present the first inductees aboard the Royal Yacht Britannia in September on the eve of what is set to be Scotland’s greatest ever motoring festival at Edinburgh’s Palace of Holyroodhouse.  I very much look forward to revealing the first inductees to the Scottish Motoring Hall of Fame on the 3rd of September.”

Inductees to the Scottish Motoring Hall of Fame are selected exclusively by the Association of Scottish Motoring Writers.  For more information visit www.bowleather.co.uk
