We just got in a brief event report from Scott Monfort of the British Car Club of Western North Carolina (BCCWNC). Their annual “Autumn in the Mountains” show was held on September 30th of this year in Hendersonville, North Carolina. This is a wonderful Fall event with proceeds going to charity.

Scott said:

We had 90 cars show for the event.  This was less than last year but we still increased our collections by 10% over last year.  I was hoping to top last years entries of 100 cars but I am grateful for the increase in spectators.

It was a beautiful day with clear skies and moderate temperature.

The $4,400 received during the one-day event will be donated to the local Meals on Wheels charity.

The pictures sent show members with their cars, group car shots, an award being given, and our 100 basket silent auction tables.

Our video this week is a great period piece celebrating the Chimney Rock Hillclimb which ran in North Carolina for approximately four decades. The Chimney Rock Hillclimb was the most legendary hillclimb in the South. Held in Chimney Rock, North Carolina, it was a rite of spring for both drivers and spectators. Beginning in 1956 when sports cars and sports car racing was still in its infancy, the climb challenged Triumphs, Jaguars, MG’s and their drivers to a high-speed rollercoaster ride that scared even the most fearless. With two miles of hairpins and switchbacks and trees for guard rails, it was an event to behold. Sadly the challenge to the mountain came to an end as a result of “changing times”. The British Car Club of Western North Carolina will present their annual fall car show, Autumn in the Mountains, on September 26, 2015, at Jackson Park in Hendersonville, North Carolina. Early registration, discounted to $25 per car, is  available online until September 19, 2015. After that time, registration will be $30 both online and at the park the day of show. AITM is a charity event benefiting Meals on Wheels. Autumn In The Mountains will once again have a silent auction to benefit Meals on Wheels.
