Targeting the discerning audience that works within the world’s leading financial hub, The City Magazine features big-name interviews and focuses on the finer things in life, including food, fashion, watches, motoring, sport and travel.

Editor, Richard Brown, will take part in the Academy, taking the wheel of the #7 race car and reporting on his experiences throughout the season in both The City Magazine and its online counterpart – www.LuxuryLondon.co.uk.

Distributed to more than 800 blue-chip companies in the City of London, the magazine is the only advertising-supported title permitted in more than 70 of the area’s most prominent buildings and estates, including the Stock Exchange and the Gherkin.

The Caterham Academy is widely acknowledged as one of the most cost-effective routes into motorsport. Open to complete novices only, the series takes aspiring racers through the process of gaining their race licence, as well as their first full season of competition. Since its inception in 1995, the Academy has created close to 1,000 brand new racing drivers.

While Richard will be the primary driver taking part in the Academy, ‘guest’ drives may also feature Giles and Eren Ellwood, publisher and managing director of Runwild Media Group, which publishes The City Magazine.

Richard said: “I’m excited and more than a little nervous to be joining the Caterham Motorsport family. Cars are one of the luxuries of life that the readership of The City Magazine is particularly interested in and the adventure of motorsport chimes well with them too. Hopefully we can show our audience how easy – and how much fun – it can be living this particular dream.”

Caterham Motorsport Manager, Jennifer Mouratsing, said: “We are realistic enough to know that going racing is a luxury and not everyone can afford to do it, even at our prices. Indeed, the Caterham Seven itself is something of a luxury – it’s hardly your everyday commute, after all.

“The audience we will be talking to via The City Magazine will feature exactly the kind of people who have a bit of disposable cash and are looking for a bit of fun to spend it on – without attracting the attention of the law.”

The City Magazine Caterham Academy season gets underway at Aintree on April 23 with the first of two sprint events. Competitors will then race each other on track at five of the UK’s top circuits, with the big season finale happening at Donington Park on October 15/16.
