Briggs Automotive Company (BAC) Supercar to be sold at HR OWen

Liverpool-based BAC continues to go from strength to strength with the announcement that leading luxury dealer group H.R. Owen is to become an agent for the single-seat Mono supercar.

The one-of-a-kind Mono supercar by Briggs Automotive Company (BAC) will be sold by leading luxury motor dealer group, H.R. Owen

BAC sells the Mono worldwide, but the addition of H.R. Owen to its UK operation is a leap forward in terms of ensuring Mono reaches the right audience and generates countrywide visibility.

Mono will be sold from newly opened H.R. Owen Ecurie in Cheltenham – the group’s first dedicated non-franchised showroom – but the car will also be offered to the entire H.R. Owen client database, who will be able to sample it at a variety of client track and showroom events. H.R. Owen BAC will provide all the benefits of buying from a main dealer group and will also have on-site aftersales facilities.

Mono customers will continue to enjoy bespoke fitment of the car, with seat and steering wheel fitting sessions available at the factory for all purchasers, but H.R. Owen staff will be able to discuss and demonstrate the extensive list of available options in the showroom using their specially built demonstration car, based in Cheltenham.

BAC Co-Founder and Director of Product Development Neill Briggs said:

It has been a great 12 months for BAC, with new technological developments for the Mono, the success of our Mono Marine edition, our sales success at the 2016 Goodwood Festival of Speed and the opening of a number of overseas showrooms, too. To partner with H.R. Owen will really strengthen our UK sales, and to be counted amongst brands such as Bugatti, Ferrari and Rolls-Royce is an honour. Many of our existing clients drive the types of vehicles H.R. Owen sells, and to be able demonstrate Mono to customers already used to high-performance, luxury vehicles means we will reach buyers with an appetite for the type of vehicle Mono is.

Stephan Plant, General Manager of H.R. Owen Ecurie said: “H.R. Owen is the leading dealer group in the UK, and to stay ahead of the rest, we need to be innovative and give clients a new experience. With over 80 years of experience, and the finest portfolio of supercar and luxury car brands, we are uniquely placed to reach the perfect audience for BAC. To have such a vehicle based alongside our new Ecurie showroom in Cheltenham reinforces our position as the dealer group that offers the most exciting range of vehicles, that we are open to new thinking and are fully prepared to get behind brands we believe in.”

To conclude, Neill Briggs added: “This is the start of a new chapter for Mono. We have now signed the agreement with H.R. Owen and look forward to a successful partnership and a new era for BAC.”

The BAC Mono will be available to view at H.R. Owen Ecurie from 22 September.

Bespoke supercar manufacturer BAC (Briggs Automotive Company) is based in Liverpool and was co-founded by brothers Ian and Neill Briggs. It produces the fast and highly acclaimed Mono supercar, a single-seater formula-style car that provides a visceral and exhilarating driving experience.

Since its launch in 2011 it has been going from strength to strength and is now sold in several markets around the world. It launched with great success and fanfare in Hong Kong at the end of 2015, with eight cars sold in a single night. BAC dealers can also be found in North America, Japan and London.

The 2016 model year version of the Mono comes with a four-cylinder 305bhp 2.5-litre Mountune engine, which takes the 580kg car from 0-60mph in just 2.8sec.

BAC recently launched a carbon hybrid wheel and announced the use of super material graphene, which is up to 20 per cent lighter than carbon fibre and as much as 200 times stronger than steel.

Despite its global appeal, BAC Mono remains proudly British, with parts sourced from its home country wherever possible.

The H.R. Owen Group not only operates in sales and service of premium luxury cars, but it also offers a number of related divisions across all brands including Chauffeur Drive, Insurance Services, Classic Cars and Luxury Hire.

The H.R. Owen flagship dealership, Jack Barclay, has been operating in Mayfair since 1927 and although traditionally just a London-based business, the company now has locations in five counties in addition to their six London showrooms – Cheltenham (Gloucestershire), Pangbourne (Berkshire), Byfleet (Surrey), St. Albans (Hertfordshire) as well as Stockport (Greater Manchester).

  1. PT1- No cars are pure anymore. Lines have blurred. That being said, I still have never understood the new Mini’s inclusion at British car events.
PT2- MG is just another casualty of industry migration to China. It’s not just a USA problem. 100 year history means nothing to the bean counters.
PT3- Colin Chapman made boats too. Go Lotus!
