Reigning World Design Car of the Year, the Range Rover Velar receives more performance, luxury, and exclusivity with the introduction of the limited ‘SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition’. Designed as the pinnacle of the Velar line-up, the new model has been developed by Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations and is powered by a 550PS 5.0-liter V8 supercharged engine with a range of unique design enhancements. Adding to its exclusivity, this distinctive model will be available to purchase for one year only. Jaguar Land Rover reported total retail sales of 52,049 vehicles in June 2018, up 0.9% year on year, primarily reflecting the introduction of the Range Rover Velar and the Jaguar E-PACE. Retail sales for June were up year-on-year in our Overseas markets (16.7%), in North America (7.4%) and in the UK (0.9%)  China was down 9.5% as the reduction in import duties on passenger vehicles, starting 1 July, continued to result in deferred purchases as well as increased incentives in advance of the 1 July effective date.  Europe was also down slightly (- 3.8%).

Land Rover has announced a host of enhancements to the award-winning Range Rover Velar including a broader engine choice, the latest intelligent safety technology and more features such as air suspension and adaptive dynamics now available as options. The Velar now has a D275 engine option, a 275PS 3.0-litre V6 diesel, producing 625Nm of torque. The new D275 enhances the options across the range and enables customers the flexibility to specify the perfect car for them. 

The Road to World Car journey concluded today at the New York International Auto Show with the declaration of the Range Rover Velar as the 2018 World Car Design of the Year. Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC reported January 2018 U.S. sales: Land Rover sales increased 5 percent to 6,446 units from 6,163 in January 2017; Jaguar sales were 2,604 units, an 11 percent decrease from 2,939 units in January 2017; Jaguar Land Rover January U.S. sales for both brands hit 9,050 units, a slight decrease from 9,102 units in January 2017. After coming off a record-setting year in 2017, we are starting 2018 with a successful January sales month for Jaguar Land Rover. — Joe Eberhardt, President and CEO, Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC For the full year 2017, Jaguar Land Rover U.S. sales reached 114,333 units, up 9 percent compared to 105,104 units in 2016, and establishing a new all-time U.S. sales record for the combined brands.

Jaguar Land Rover Automotive plc reported a global 38% increase in second-quarter pre-tax profits to £385 million in the three months to September 30, 2017. Revenues were up 11.5% to £6.3 billion with an increase in margin (EBIT) of 1% to 5.2%. Higher sales and profits reflect the continuing ramp-up of new models such as the Range Rover Velar, Land Rover Discovery, Jaguar XF Sportbrake, Jaguar F-PACE and, in China, the Jaguar XFL. Retail sales grew 5.1% to 149,690, with increases in China (27.4%) and the US (5.1%) offsetting lower sales in the UK and Europe.

The Range Rover Velar has achieved a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating, confirming one of the world’s most desirable luxury SUVs as among the safest too. The fourth member of the Range Rover family scored 93% for adult occupant protection, 85% for child occupant protection and 74% for pedestrian protection.

The new Range Rover Velar made a spectacular US debut with an exclusive live online performance from Ellie Goulding. The chart-topping singer’s New York show precedes a charity auction of the hotly anticipated new mid-size SUV at the East Side House Settlement Annual Gala later this week. Goulding brought a touch of British glamour to the Velar’s US launch party when she arrived in Manhattan – the Metropolitan home of Range Rover – to be the first person to drive the new Velar and to sing for a global online audience. Land Rover has opened a new visitor attraction at its thriving Solihull manufacturing plant. ‘The Range Rover Story’ is an interactive exhibit created to celebrate 50 years of the world’s most revered luxury SUV. Range Rover has been manufactured at Solihull since 1970, but its history with the site goes back to 1967 when the first secret prototype was conceived, codenamed Velar. The new exhibit will take visitors on a time-travelling voyage from its inception in the mid-1960s, through to the introduction of the Range Rover Sport and Range Rover Evoque. The exhibition culminates in an exciting unveil of the new Range Rover Velar, celebrating British design and engineering integrity.

The new Velar fills the space in the Range Rover family between the Range Rover Evoque and Range Rover Sport. Refined for every occasion, for every terrain, Velar uses unique sustainable materials and advanced engineering to continue Land Rover’s drive to go Above and Beyond. Low on specifics but big on drama, Land Rover has announced the introduction of the Range Rover Velar which will be unveiled next week.  Best just to quote the full announcement in its short completeness.
