The British Invasion is a weekend celebration of all things British. Annually we attract 550-650 British Cars from Canada and the eastern United States. The Town of Stowe welcomes the “Invaders” with a Big Main Street Party on Friday evening with a live band from 6:30-9:30 PM. Saturday is the Concours d’Elegance (Judged with a New Category for PRESERVATION Cars), the British Classic (People’s Choice), a Car Corral, British Vendors, Ladies Hat Competition with awards presented by the “Queen”,  Food and British Invasion Music.  Registrants and General Admission attendees are encouraged to dress in British Fashion with awards issued in several categories.  Saturday also features the “British Attire Competition,” which is open to Car Show Registrants & Guest, and the General Public, where our roving judges seek out the most original and most interesting British Dressed attendees. I am beat from over eight hours of driving today to get here to Stowe for the British Invasion but feel I need to give you at least a few pictures from the fantastic street party this evening. The street was closed off, there was food, live music, and lots of dancing children. While all of the cars I have seen so far are great, a few really stood out. How about three Singer roadsters? You rarely see on of those, much less three at the same event. The Bristol pictured above was beautiful and drawing a crowd at every turn. And then there are the Healeys and the MGs and the Triumphs and the … well, you get the picture. The British Invasion is a British lifestyle event that started “over a pint of ale” in Stowe, Vermont, in 1990. A four-day event that starts on the weekend of the third Saturday in September each year, to include “all things British”, with a primary focus on classic British motorcars. Beautiful Stowe, Vermont, plays host to a dazzling collection of classic British Motorcars on the third weekend in September every year. MG’s, Triumph’s, Austin-Healey, Jaguar, Singer, Morgan, Land Rover, Rover, Rolls-Royce and Bentley, Riley, Sunbeam-Alpine, and British Motorcycle comprise over 65 separate classes in the British Classic Motorcar Show. Our video this week is dedicated to the British Invasion show in Stowe, Vermont. The 2015 edition occurred this past weekend, and although we couldn’t make it (hope to next year), we are told it was a great event. This video features the show held last year. This video is an episode of My Classic Car hosted by Dennis Gage. In this particular episode, Dennis travels to Stowe, for the 2014 British Invasion car show. Additionally he discusses classic car restoration in the Autogeek Garage. I will admit that one of the segments I had to rewatch multiple times in this episode is the piece with one of my favorite cars, the 1932 MG J1.

The British Invasion is the largest all-British motorcar show and British lifestyle event in the Eastern United States. This annual event is held on the weekend of the 3rd Saturday in the month of September in Stowe, Vermont. 2015 marks the 25 anniversary of the British Invasion with this year’s event being held September 18 through 20. Over 700 British Motorcars invade the rustic town of Stowe, Vermont for the weekend. Friday evening is the Main Street Party with reserve parking for British Motorcars, and a live band.
