The twenty-second annual British V8 meet will be held in and around Dayton, Ohio from July 11th through 14th. (Plan your departure for Sunday the 15th.) We plan to have an aircraft-themed weekend with visits to The Museum of the United States Air Force, WACO field, and various historically significant sites in and around Dayton. Car show for all British Marques. Gates open at 8 AM, the show runs from 9 AM to 4 PM. Celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Austin Healey Bugeye Sprite. The show has over 30 different classes of vehicles and 6 specialty awards. Featuring a food booth, food trucks, a vendor area, door prizes, and a live DJ. This is a rain or shine event located throughout a park that includes exercise trails, Frisbee golf, and a beautiful overlook of the surrounding Fairfield area. Come join the British Transportation Museum’s 15th Annual Car Show, “British Cars at the Burg” at our New Venue: Riverfront Park, Miamisburg, OH. The Show runs from 9AM to 3PM on May 19, 2018. Car registration is $15 in before May 2012th and $18 the day of the show. Registration will be limited to the first 100 cars. In addition to the Car Show, Miamisburg “Spring Fling” happens. The Festival consists of: The Parade, Arts and Crafts Booths, Commercial and Community Booths, along with Children’s Activities and a Carnival. Northeast Ohio Austin Healey Club NEOAHC is holding their 40th annual British Swapmeet and Car Show in Solon, Ohio. The British Cars are the main attraction and the sports car vendors will be there. The 2016 Put-in-Bay Road Races Reunion event is shaping up to be a great event for both entrants and spectators alike. It takes place from Sunday evening August 28 thru Wednesday August 31 at 1:30 or so on Ohio’s South Bass Island, a short ferry ride from Port Clinton, Ohio. Ohio Chapter T Register members such as myself and Tom Baumgardner have attended every one of these events since 2009 and will be back this year. Tom Metcalf (who once described this event as offering the most fun of any car event he has ever attended) is throwing a pre-event beach party at his place on Ohio’s mainland not far away on Saturday the 27th. The primary purposes of this road trip were (are? I am still on it) to see my friend Gene Gillenwater in Ohio, to attend the MG national meet in Louisville, KY, and to simply get out and drive and see some countryside. I have done all of those, and I am still on the road! The first leg of the road trip took me from Charleston, SC, over some of the worst roads I have ever seen, through North Carolina and a bit of Tennessee up into Virginia. Seriously, the roads in my own home state are the worst I have seen and are in dangerously bad shape. We should be ashamed of ourselves. The British Transportation Museum in Dayton, Ohio will hold its 13th annual British Car Meet on Saturday May 28, 2016. The Location will be the same as last year with the Meet at the South side of the building at 32 Webster Street, home of “TOP of the Market Banquet and Event Center” in downtown Dayton. The Meet runs from 9AM to 3PM. Car registration is $15 in before May 21st and $18 after May 21st. Registration will be limited to the first 100 cars.
Tigers East / Alpines East had a huge crowd at their Rootes United XXXIV in Dayton Ohio last the first weekend of August. Nearly 90 Sunbeams and over 170 people attended. Below is a time lapse video of owners leaving for the show last Saturday morning. Note the two Harrington’s in the first two parking spots. This show was held in conjunction with the Dayton British car show. With the 90 Sunbeam cars, they had a total of 370 British cars at the show which made a new record for them. Another record for them was the long distance award which was given to a couple from the Sunbeam club who drove their Tiger from British Columbia 2800 miles to attend! Sunbeam Alpines and Tigers unite! Preparations are underway for Rootes United XXXIV to be held in Dayton, Ohio July 30-August 2, 2015. This event is being hosted by Tigers East / Alpines East. “The purpose of Tigers East/Alpines East is to promote interest in the Sunbeam Marque, in general, and the Tiger/Alpine segment in particular; to aid in the restoration, preservation, and enjoyment of these vehicles; to promote cooperation among other similar Sunbeam organizations; and to increase communication and fellowship among those persons so inclined.” Thursday will be arrival day with registration, parts room, and hospitality room set up.
