More than 130 dealer representatives attended MG Motor UK’s annual Dealer Conference and Dealer of the Year Awards in Birmingham last week, marking the start of an exciting and busy year ahead for the iconic British brand. Dealers were treated to the official unveiling of the New MG ZS EV, the iconic British brand’s first battery electric car which is set to launch in September 2019. They also heard about “Momentum & Growth”, MG’s mid-term sales plan which will drive the business to treble its sales volumes over the coming years. Significantly, MG also used the Dealer Conference to announce the launch of its aftersales customer retention programme, a key initiative to generate increased service profitability through the rapidly growing MG parc.
Nothing else on the road looks or drives like the Jaguar I-PACE. It is designed and engineered to take full advantage of its smart electric powertrain and maximize the potential this packaging brings. With two Jaguar-designed electric motors placed at each axle, producing a combined output of 400PS and 696Nm, I-PACE delivers all-wheel-drive sports car performance with 0-60mph taking just 4.5 seconds. The I-PACE is able to achieve a 0-80 percent battery charge in 85-minutes using DC charging (50kW), while home charging with an approved Jaguar AC wall box (7kW) will achieve the same state of charge in just over ten hours – ideal for the overnight charging used by the majority of buyers.

Word is in on this year’s Auto Express Magazine awards, and Aston Martin, MINI, and Jaguar have all done quite well. Aston Martin Awards In addition to the cars themselves, Aston Martin President and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Andy Palmer was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award. The award – which was presented to Palmer by Auto Express editor-in-chief Steve Fowler – represents an appreciation for his efforts during his long and successful career in the automotive industry.
MINI USA announced today that the 2019 MINI Hardtop 2 Door has earned a “2018 Top Safety Pick” award by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The MINI Hardtop earns this designation when equipped with Active Driving Assistant and newly available LED headlights. The 2019 MINI Hardtop 2 Door received a “Good” rating across a wide range of crashworthiness tests, including “driver-side small overlap front”, “moderate overlap front”, “side, roof strength” and “head restraint” tests.
Aston Martin President and CEO Dr Andy Palmer has been presented with a prestigious L.E.A.D.E.R. award at the Automotive News Europe Congress dinner. The L.E.A.D.E.R. award stands for Leaders in European Automotive Development, Excellence, and Research. The annual L.E.A.D.E.R. award recognizes those in the industry who exemplify product development, achievements, and dedication to the European automotive sector.
The McLaren 720S has added to its trophy haul by winning the top Best of the Best category of the 2018 Red Dot Design Awards. It is the second time that a new McLaren has been awarded the international seal of outstanding design quality, following the recognition of the McLaren 570S Coupé in 2016. The second-generation Super Series provides a new interpretation of McLaren design language, with a dedication to aerodynamics principles and was singled out by the 40 international judges for its “innovative symbiosis of aesthetics and function”. Criteria for the competition, which is one of the world’s largest design contests, include innovation, functionality, formal quality, ergonomics, and durability. Of the 6,300 products from 59 countries vying for the ultimate Red Dot title in 2018, just one percent were chosen as worthy of the Best of the Best title.
The New Rolls-Royce Phantom has been presented with a ‘Five-star Car’ accolade at the Autocar Awards 2018, which celebrates the best cars produced in the automotive industry over the past year. Introduced over 80 years ago, the famous Autocar road test remains one of the most thorough and exacting assessments to which a new car can be subjected. The New Phantom is one of just two cars to be awarded five stars in 2018.

Performance car title evo today celebrates British motoring success with the announcement of its Car of the Year awards, with the McLaren 720S being named both Car of the Year and Best Supercar of 2017.
