We just received word from the folks at the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance that the main event has been moved to Saturday due to impending weather.  Along with this, the RM Sotheby’s auction will be moving to Friday, March 9. Even in the best case scenario, the forecast for Sunday’s scheduled Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance includes rain and lots of it. With a strong chance of heavy precipitation forecast for Sunday and a sunshine-filled Saturday in the mix, The Amelia Concours team has moved Sunday’s award-winning Concours to Saturday. Yesterday at the Geneva Motor Show Jaguar Classic was proud to present Iron Maiden drummer Nicko McBrain’s custom-built ‘Greatest Hits’ Jaguar XJ6, kicking-off Jaguar’s XJ 50th anniversary celebrations in 2018. The bespoke commission is a collaboration between Nicko, the expert engineers and craftsmen at Jaguar Land Rover Classic Works in Coventry, and Jaguar Design studio director Wayne Burgess. The project involved more than 3500 man-hours of work, with more than 4000 parts refinished, replaced or redesigned. Unlike any 1984 XJ6 before, it incorporates substantial modifications to the exterior, interior, drivetrain, and suspension, resulting in Nicko’s dream XJ.

MINI Plant Oxford has received a top visitor attraction award from the official national tourism agency for England. The plant, which builds more than 1,000 MINIs each day, has been recognized by VisitEngland with a ‘Best Told Story Accolade’ for its factory tour, which gives visitors a behind the scenes look at how this iconic British car is made. Introduced by VisitEngland in 2014, the accolades are available to attractions that are part of the Visitor Attraction Quality Scheme and are allocated through a scoring system based on an annual unannounced assessment. They recognize attractions that ‘go the extra mile to provide a high-quality day out.’

Aston Martin has debuted the Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro – the sensational track-only evolution of the marque’s spectacular hypercar – at 88th Geneva International Motor Show. Taking the world’s most extreme road car as its basis, the AMR Pro version distills the combined knowledge, expertise and aspirations of Adrian Newey, Chief Technical Officer of Aston Martin Red Bull Racing, and Aston Martin’s most talented design and engineering teams, led by Marek Reichman – Aston Martin’s Chief Creative Officer – and David King – Chief Special Operations Officer – to create a car with the performance capabilities of a current Le Mans LMP1 prototype or Formula One car.

The Morgan Motor Company has today revealed its most extreme road-going model to date, the Aero GT. The family-owned, British manufacturer officially unveiled the car at the 88th International Geneva Motor Show. The longest established independent automotive manufacturer, Morgan Motor Company will produce just eight of the special Aero GT variants. All vehicles will be individually built bespoke to each customer. The Aero GT represents the end of Aero 8 production, guaranteeing that every Aero 8 owner will be the custodian of a very significant piece of Morgan history.

Aston Martin presented Lagonda Vision Concept in Geneva today, marking the beginning of a new range of state of the art, emission-free luxury vehicles. Production is planned to start in 2021. Lagonda aims to be the world’s first zero emission luxury brand. It will confound traditional thinking and take full advantage of the latest advances in electrification and autonomous driving technologies, which amount to the biggest revolution in land-bound transportation since the invention of the car. The First Three Shelby Cobras – The Sports Cars that Changed the Game is the fourth in the Exceptional Cars series from Porter Press. Produced with the same handsome attention to details as their other books, this volume details the story of three cars important to modern sports car history and Cobras in particular –  the first AC Cobras created by the legendary Carroll Shelby in 1962. The meet always includes multiple Jensen Interceptors and Jensen-Healeys in all their various iterations and will often include the less common Jensen GT plus occasionally some real Jensen rarities such as FFs, CV-8s, 541s and other surprises. Cars without Jensen Motors badges but a shared history at the West Bromwich factory such as the Volvo P1800 and Sunbeam Alpine/Tiger are welcomed and have attended previously. And what the heck; we have often had a Triumph Spitfire join us and we’ve even had a vintage Citroën SM in attendance, so one would be hard-pressed to say that we are not an inclusive group! Aston Martin has been revealed as the world’s fastest-growing automotive brand of 2018 by Brand Finance, the leading independent business valuation and strategy consultancy. The 2018 Brand Finance Auto & Tyres Report, which was launched today, shows that the luxury car manufacturer’s brand value is up 268% to US$3.6 billion, leaping from #77 in the overall ranking to #24. The 1925 Bentley Super Sports of Graham and Marina Goodwin reigned supreme on the Endurance Rally Association’s The Road to Saigon rally. Holding their lead on the Vintageant category from the start line in Singapore right the way to the finish in Saigon or Ho Chi Minh City as it is now known. Former Peking to Paris entrant Andrew Webster and his co-driver Ian Robertson took second place in their 1939 Chevrolet Master 85. Rallying over 8,600kms in 27-days, around 35 crews took on a series of challenging regularity and speed trials as they journeyed through Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam.

Car show for all British Marques. Gates open at 8 AM, the show runs from 9 AM to 4 PM. Celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Austin Healey Bugeye Sprite.  The show has over 30 different classes of vehicles and 6 specialty awards.  Featuring a food booth, food trucks, a vendor area, door prizes, and a live DJ.  This is a rain or shine event located throughout a park that includes exercise trails, Frisbee golf, and a beautiful overlook of the surrounding Fairfield area.  Additional information and a registration form can be found on the club website. The twenty-second annual British V8 meet will be held in and around Dayton, Ohio from July 11th through 14th. (Plan your departure for Sunday the 15th.) We plan to have an aircraft-themed weekend with visits to The Museum of the United States Air Force, WACO field, and various historically significant sites in and around Dayton. Every second year HACK ( Hudson Antique Car Klub) presents the “The Hudson British Car Show” in Hudson Quebec. This will be our 9th. Show. With an attendance of 300-400 cars, this is the largest show of it’s kind in Quebec. The show grounds are located in the center of the town within walking distance of shops and boutiques and an authentic British Tea Room, so bring your significant other along for the day. If you want to arrive on Saturday, you can join us at 10:00 A.M. at Finnegan’s Flea Market for Finnegan’s Run.
