Already the class benchmark for driving dynamics and driver engagement, the All-New Jaguar XF will, in 2016, offer an even greater breadth of dynamic ability.
For the first time, Jaguar’s business saloon offers all-wheel drive (AWD) together with a four-cylinder diesel engine – the clean, refined, 180PS 2.0-litre Ingenium unit. This combination will offer customers exceptional fuel efficiency together with enhanced all-weather traction and performance.
Jaguar’s torque on-demand AWD system features Intelligent Driveline Dynamics (IDD) – a next-generation control technology developed entirely in-house. Launched in the F-TYPE AWD, IDD delivers rear-wheel drive character and agility but can transfer precisely the right amount of torque to the front axle when required, maximising the performance and dynamics benefits of the additional traction. The result is superb composure in even the most adverse weather conditions.
“The all-new Jaguar XF is already established as the most dynamically-rewarding saloon car in the business segment. Now we’re making the performance and traction benefits of all-wheel drive accessible to more customers worldwide by combining the system with our clean, refined and efficient Ingenium diesel engines.
“By making our Configurable Dynamics and Adaptive Dynamics technologies available on more models across the range, we’re once again raising the benchmark for ride and handling.”
Kevin Stride, Vehicle Line Director, Jaguar XE, XF, F-PACE
Configurable Dynamics improves the driving experience still further by allowing the driver to individually tune settings for the suspension, steering, throttle and transmission through the vehicle’s touchscreen. Originally offered only on V6 models, Configurable Dynamics will now be available on all 180PS four-cylinder diesel models with automatic transmissions.
For vehicles equipped with the state-of-the-art InControl Touch Pro infotainment system, Configurable Dynamics also benefits from Dynamic-i. Displayed on the 10.2-inch touchscreen, this feature provides the driver with a stopwatch, G-meter, lap timer and graphs of brake and accelerator pedal activation, enhancing the all-new XF’s performance-orientated character.
And for the first time, the Adaptive Dynamics continuously variable damping system will be available on manual transmission models. The improved body control that Adaptive Dynamics provides, coupled with the smooth, precise gear change engineered for the six-speed gearbox, will offer keen drivers even greater involvement.
As well as benchmark vehicle dynamics, the all-new XF boasts exceptional usability and practicality, thanks to class-leading rear seat space and a 540-litre luggage compartment – the largest in the segment. The All-New XF is one of the safest cars in its segment too, achieving the maximum five star rating from Euro NCAP. And, with CO2 emissions from just 104g/km, class-leading residual values, class leading three-year unlimited mileage warranty and the lowest overall service costs in its class, the all-new XF also delivers remarkably low running costs.
“Together with the performance and desirability our customers expect from Jaguar, the all-new XF’s efficiency, usability and low total cost of ownership are already proving very attractive to business users worldwide.
“The XF accounted for almost 29 per cent of Jaguar’s total global fleet volume in the first six months of this financial year, and the introduction of 180PS diesel all-wheel drive model will help to make it even more successful.”
Andy Goss, Director of Group Sales Operations, Jaguar Land Rover

JAGUAR ALL-WHEEL DRIVE
Matched to the 180PS Ingenium diesel engine, Jaguar’s torque on-demand all-wheel drive system with Intelligent Driveline Dynamics delivers an exceptional blend of agility, performance and efficiency
The all-new XF’s torque on-demand all-wheel drive (AWD) system will, for the first time, be offered with the clean, refined, 2.0-litre four-cylinder Ingenium diesel.
The combination of dynamic and traction benefits of AWD with the responsiveness and fuel efficiency of the 180PS/ 430Nm Ingenium engine and eight-speed automatic transmission makes the all-new XF an even more compelling choice in the business segment with CO2 emissions of 129g/km.
In normal driving, all of the engine’s torque is sent to the rear axle. Compared to permanent all-wheel drive systems this preserves real-wheel drive dynamics and agility, ensures that steering feel remains uncorrupted, and also reduces parasitic losses in the driveline.
Control over when torque should be transferred to the front axle – and how much – is determined by Intelligent Driveline Dynamics (IDD) – a highly sophisticated technology designed, developed and calibrated entirely in-house. IDD continuously estimates the friction between the tyres and the road surface, and also how much of the available grip is being exploited at each tyre contact patch.
First used on the F-TYPE AWD, IDD is integrated into the transfer case and can apply predictive, feed-forward control strategies as well as reactive, feedback control. IDD is also networked to the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) system, the torque vectoring system and Jaguar Drive Control.
If IDD predicts that the rear axle is approaching the limit of available traction, torque is transferred to the front axle. Torque can also be transferred to the front axle to help mitigate oversteer during fast cornering by providing yaw damping.
Together with impressive fuel economy of 57.7mpg and CO2 emissions of only 129g/km, the AWD diesel model can achieve 0-60mph in 7.9 seconds. The 180PS Ingenium engine’s maximum torque of 430Nm – one of the highest ratings in the class – is generated from just 1,750rpm, delivering strong mid-range acceleration and outstanding real world performance. Maximum speed is 138mph.
Adaptive Surface Response: Traction technology for all conditions
For AWD-equipped XFs, Adaptive Surface Response (AdSR) technology can replace Rain, Ice, Snow mode in the Jaguar Drive Control and optimises the mapping of the throttle, automatic transmission and DSC system to suit the type of surface.
Developed from Jaguar Land Rover’s world-leading, award-winning Terrain Response technology, AdSR ensures that the vehicle is set up to fully exploit the available traction, improving driver confidence in even the most challenging conditions, such as ice-covered roads.
The combination of AWD and AdSR together with Jaguar’s revolutionary All Surface Progress Control system is unique in the segment and ensures that the all-new XF delivers outstanding all-weather performance and capability.
