British Sports Car Hall of Fame Announces 2021 Nominating Committee

The British Sports Car Hall of Fame, the preeminent organization for the celebration of the British sports car and the men and woman who made them such an integral part of the postwar North American automotive scene, have announced the members of the nominating committee, who will select the 2021 honorees.

The Selection Committee, which consists of nine distinguished members of the automotive hobby, is tasked with assembling a list of inductees for the current year. The committee, based on their collective knowledge and experience, choose members for each induction class, based on their historic contributions to the British Sports Car scene. In addition, they will evaluate those potential inductees nominated by the public via the British Sports Car Hall of Fame website.

For 2021, the group, Chaired by Author and British Sports Car Hall of Fame founder John Nikas, consists of the following eminently distinguished members:

  • Wayne Carini – Owner of F40 Motorsports and host of MOTORTREND’s Chasing Classic Cars
  • Ken Gross – Legendary Automotive Writer and previous winner of the Dean Batchelor, Ken Purdy and Cugnot awards for his writing
  • Fred Hammond – Manager of Jaguar Land Rover North American Archives, 48 years in the auto industry and Hall of Fame BOD member
  • Donald Osborne – President & CEO of the Audrain Motorsport, Linkage Magazine and Audrain Automotive Museum and a regularly featured guest on Jay Leno’s Garage
  • David Lillywhite – Publisher of Magneto and former Editor in Chief of Octane Magazine
  • Lowell Paddock – Former Editor at Automobile Quarterly magazine, General Motors Executive and Managing Director of GM India
  • Andy Reid – A columnist for Classic Motorsports magazine for 12 years and Editor of Classic Cars.com and The Journal
  • Dr. Fred Simeone – President of the Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum
  • Bill Warner – Chairman of the Amelia Island Concours d’ Elegance and staffer at Road & Track

Nominees for induction are selected from the following seven categories:

  • Automobile Clubs and Associations
  • Automotive Dealers and Distributors
  • Aftermarket Suppliers, Parts Manufacturers and the Service Industry
  • Executives, Engineers, and Designers
  • Journalists and Historians
  • Competition and Racing
  • Special Contributors and Pioneers

The British Sports Car Hall of Fame (BSCHoF) was established as an independent entity in 2016 to preserve and perpetuate the legacy and impact of these legendary vehicles and to honor the men and women responsible for their success. Induction into the Hall of Fame is reserved for those who have made a significant and lasting impact on the British sports car industry and hobby, making it a singular honor for a lifetime of achievement. By celebrating the memory of the dedicated individuals that played key roles, the Hall can serve as a touchstone for British sports car enthusiasts of all ages and interests, furthered by its various preservation and education initiatives.

The British Sports Car Hall of Fame will announce the committee’s decision on the list of 2021 inductees on May 15, 2021. A date for the induction ceremony, which would normally take place in Petersburg, VA, shortly after the announcement of the inductees, has not been announced due to the Covid pandemic, out of an abundance of caution. A date will be announced as the situation allows.
