I am a big fan of New Orleans, and also a fan of the SVRA (Sportscar Vintage Racing Association). So what could be better than combining the two? Our video this week is from the SVRA touting their upcoming races in the Crescent City.

This new addition to the SVRA schedule will be co-hosted by the Texas-based vintage car club, Corinthian Vintage Auto Racers (CVAR), at this racing facility located just 14 miles from the French Quarter of New Orleans. This event is non-points race for both clubs, featuring two days of exciting racing for all classes. Also sharing the weekend, as a featured group, will be The Trans-Am Series. In addition to the racing, there is a Saturday Car Show.

NOLA presents a 2.75-mile, world-class track consisting of 16 turns, with a 5,200-foot straightaway. Designed to be challenging, but with safety in mind, the track offers the vintage racer an amazing on-track experience.

NOLA Motorsports Park opened in 2011 and recently received a multi-million dollar state grant for the track improvements necessary to host its first IndyCar race, the inaugural Grand Prix of Louisiana, in April 2015. Besides a smooth racing surface and challenging layout, NOLA Motorsports Park offers a large paddock area and go kart course. The large event center on-site will host the Saturday night party featuring some great New Orleans music and followed by a spectacular fireworks display. What better way to end your season. 2015 Show & Shine Car Show At NOLA Motorsports Park In Avondale

Be a part of the SVRA “Mardi Gras In October” Race Weekend held at the challenging NOLA Motorsports Park in Avondale, Louisiana! You will enjoy the rumble of hundreds of vintage and historic racecars as they navigate their way around this 2.75-mile world-class track consisting of 16 turns and a 5,200 foot straightaway.

The Classic Car Show at NOLA on Saturday, October 10th is open to all Classic, Vintage, Exotic and Collectible Cars of interest. Each $50.00 Car Show registration includes:

– 2 Weekend Passes (2-day) to the Vintage Races
– The “Last Lap” tour of the NOLA Motorsports Park in your show car (subject to track conditions)
– Saturday Evening Concert

The Altanta Historic Races this year are to feature the marques of Great Britain. The races, which will be held August 2oth through the 23rd, are put on by Historic Sportscar Racing, HSR. There will also be vintage motorcycle racing, B.O.S.S. formula cars, historic stock cars, a Porsche challenge and much more.  These sessions are held at the beautiful Road Atlanta track in the foothills of the north Georgia Mountains.  I will be there and hope to see you there too. Additionally, another HSR event will be held in South Carolina in September. The Carolina Historic Races will feature Historic Stock Car, Historic GTP/WSC, B.O.S.S. Series, Jo Bonnier 2 Litre Challenge, Klub Sport Porsche Challenge, ROLEX Endurance Challenge Series Races and Feature Races. Time for a little vintage racing. Yes, our video this weeks comes from the VARAC. The VARAC, the Vintage Automobile Racing Association of Canada, is the main Vintage Racing Club in Eastern Canada. All VARAC members share a desire to preserve, restore and race historically significant cars in a form as close to the original specification as possible As for the video itself, it is a profile of MG.
