According to a recent article in Autocar, the all-new successor to the classic Jaguar XJ line will launch at the end of 2018, the 50th anniversary of the line, and go on sale in 2019. What’s more, the car will be all-electric directly targeting the likes of Tesla and leading Jaguar’s push into the high-tech future. Autocar has learned that the decision has been taken to replace it, despite the tougher market for luxury saloons in the face of the rising popularity of luxury SUVs. Jaguar today, 15 June, announced updates to the 2016 Jaguar XJ. Launched in the U.S. in 2011, the brand’s flagship full-size, all-aluminum luxury sedan becomes even more desirable in 2016 with an updated exterior design, enhanced information and entertainment systems, new available driver assistance features and greater differentiation in the model line-up.

The Jaguar lineup will significantly expand in 2016 with the addition of the brand’s all new, aluminum intensive Jaguar XE compact sports sedan which will join the modern Jaguar sedan lineup alongside the all-new Jaguar XF and Jaguar XJ sedans. A true driver’s car, the Jaguar XE redefines the concept of the sports sedan thanks to its advanced lightweight construction, streamlined styling, luxurious interior, and outstanding ride and handling. The XE goes on sale in 2015 in global markets and in 2016 in the United States and Canada. Manufacturing of the aluminium-intensive Jaguar XE occurs at Jaguar Land Rover’s Solihull plant in an all-new facility.
