15th Annual Kastner Cup

The 15th iteration of this great event will be hosted as the featured event at the 2017 VSCDA (Vintage Sports Car Drivers Association) Blackhawk Classic at Blackhawk Farms Raceway in Rockton, IL on June 16-18, 2017. The track is perfect for small bore production racing and the spectating is simply second to none. There is nowhere on the track that can’t be accessed for watching close racing action trackside, plus there is an observation deck where seven corners can be seen from a perch in the middle of the paddock. The Kastner Cup is awarded to one Triumph Competitor each year. First awarded at Mosport Canada in 2003 and then each year after at a different track around the USA. R.W. (Kas) Kastner – Hall of Fame Inductee

From his position as Competition Director for Standard-Triumph in the United States, R.W. “Kas” Kastner was the guiding influence and prime instigator for the company’s success, essentially writing the book on how to successfully race cars on a budget and setting the standard for others in the industry to follow. He will be inducted into the British Sports Car Hall of Fame on June 2, 2017. Kastner’s experience in the automotive industry spans over 50 years. He has particular experience in the field of performance vehicles and automotive racing and racing team management. Triumph powered cars still participate annually in the appropriately named Kastner Cup.

The 14th Annual Kastner Cup will be hosted by Classic Sports Racing Group (CSRG) as a part of the David Love Memorial Races, April 1-3, 2016 at Sonoma Raceway. All Triumph-powered racecars with a current racing log book are eligible. The Kastner Cup race honors the legendary, R.W. “Kas” Kastner, a championship winning driver and team manager who led the U.S. Triumph racing program to countless victories through the 60’s and 70’s. Kas himself will present the cup to the racer he selects to receive this coveted award. Sonoma wine country is filled with activities, great food, and unrivaled natural beauty. All Triumph-powered race cars with a current racing log book are invited to the 14th Annual Kastner Cup, hosted by Classic Sports Racing Group (CSRG) as part of the David Love Memorial Races April 1-3, 2016 at Sonoma Raceway. The event typically draws more than 175 race cars that are divided into eight-run groups ranging from production sports cars to Can-Am racers. About the Kastner Cup The Kastner Cup race honors the legendary R.W. “Kas” Kastner, a championship winning driver and team manager who led the U.S. Triumph racing program to numerous victories through the 1960’s and 1970’s.
