The Peachtree MG Registry of Atlanta completed their hosting of the North American MGB Register (NAMGBR) National Convention this past Sunday in Dillard, GA at the Dillard House Inn & Resort (www.dillardhouse.com). The event showed a record attendance with nearly 300 cars registered and over 230 cars making it to the show field on Saturday. Both numbers are records for NAMGBR National Convention shows.
In addition to the Saturday car show, attendees were also treated to multiple events throughout the week. Tech sessions were held at the Dillard House Convention Center on multiple topics Wednesday through Saturday, including a “rolling tech session” by John Twist of University Motors in Michigan. Event participants could roll their car through a tech station and have any problems with their cars diagnosed.
MG 2012 also featured touring events to The Tail of the Dragon at Deals Gap, NC as well as the Georgia Wine Highway and Tallulah Gorge. Other self-guided touring events were also offered throughout the region all week.
The ladies were treated to shopping excursions in Dillard & Clayton, GA as well as a trip to Highlands, NC. Crafting events were also held at The Chatter Box in Dillard, hosted by owner Kathy Winkler. Three sessions were held highlighting various types of craft demonstrations with attendee participation.
The event was not just a car show and convention, but also a mechanism for raising funds for charity. This year’s charity chosen by PMGR members is the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). A portion of the proceeds from the event will go to JDRF to further their mission of finding a cure for the disease.
MG 2013 will be held in Corvallis, Oregon in July 2013 and will be hosted by the Willamette MG Club. Chairpersons Gene & Becky Nunn attended MG 2012 in Dillard to witness the event first-hand. I’m positive that MG 2013 will be just as exciting as this year’s event. Find out more about MG 2013 at www.mg2013.com.
