Tail of the Dragon

MINIs on the Dragon (MOTD) returns to Fontana Village Resort in the mountains of western North Carolina for its 24th annual gathering, April 28 to May 2, 2027. Built around the Tail of the Dragon, 11 miles and 318 curves, the event brings hundreds of MINI owners together for group day drives, dinners, vendor alley and plenty of time to look over each other’s mods. Registration opens Friday, January 15, 2027 at 9:00am EST, with a $30 registration fee. Day drives open for sign-up Saturday, February 13, 2027 at 9:00am EST. Registration closes Sunday, April 11, 2027. Fontana Village is the home base for the event and the recommended place to stay. The MINIs on the Dragon (MotD) started out as a get together to drive 11-mile stretch of road with 318 curves aka the Dragon. That in itself is more than enough reason to travel to the breathtaking mountains of North Carolina. But in the first weekend of May each year, it has evolved into much more than that. Just like our beloved MINI’s have evolved into more than just a car to us. So you take the 11-mile stretch of road, then you toss in the mountains, country roads, and waterfalls.
