SUMMARY:Tigers East Alpines East United 39 - Ontario\, Canada
DESCRIPTION:Anticipated to be one of the largest gatherings of Sunbeam and Rootes cars ever in North America\, the weekend and location has been selected to coincide with Toronto British Car Day\, the largest one-day\, all-British car event in North America. Sunbeam and Rootes enthusiasts will be converging from as far away as Vancouver\, British Columbia\, Halifax\, Nova Scotia\, and Florida for a variety of events over an extended weekend including tours\, concours\, autocross\, parts room\, and more. \nBCD participants representing over 100 British car clubs\, come not only from Canada and the United States but from the U.K.\, New Zealand and other international destinations as well. The event is held at Bronte Provincial Park\, close to the Holiday Inn. We intend to stage our TEAE concours concurrently within the larger event and have been allocated 75-100 spots on the show field. We will also be eligible for certain British Car Day event awards. \nBritish Car Day draws more than 1\,000 British cars and an incredible 9000 spectators. The organizers think 2022 will be epic and memorable after being cancelled two years in a row due to Covid\, and they expect perhaps as many as 1500 cars will be in attendance. \nSeptember in Toronto offers moderate weather. Daytime temperature averages are in the low to mid-70’s Fahrenheit with nighttime averages about ten degrees lower. SUMMARY:37th Annual Toronto British Car Day 2022
DESCRIPTION:The 37th Annual British Car Day® will be held on Sunday\, 18th September 2022 at Bronte Creek Provincial Park when another great show is planned. We are expecting well over 1\,100 British Cars\, great vendors\, wonderful anniversary cars spanning 3 years and much more. We have had to make a modest increase to our car registration pricing this year by $5 – the first change since 2010 – to cover ever-increasing costs. Pre-registration through FASTLANE will be available in May 2022 and it’s a great way to save money ($20 versus $25 at the gate). In addition\, you will save time by driving through the FASTLANE where you will pick-up an excellent program together with a voting card and dash plaque. Those paying cash at the gate will have to sign-in at our registration desk which is where you will collect your program etc. \nWe have almost 60 different car classes and 3 awards per class so the odds are pretty good that you might win one! There will also be a panel of judges selecting the Best of Show car and a Long-Distance Award presented to the car driven the furthest (you must pre-register to be eligible). Winner of the 2019 Best of Show car\, a 1933 Morgan Supersports JAP owned by Dave & Pauline Smith for 53 years typifies the wonderful cars and enthusiasts that come to the show. \nIf you are new to British Car Day® a little background.   it is hosted annually by the Toronto Triumph Club\, on the third Sunday of September.   Since its inaugural event in 1984 it has grown in leaps and bounds and now draws more than 1\,000 British cars and over 9\,000 spectators\, with room to grow even bigger.   British Car Day® is open to vintage\, classic and current British-manufactured vehicles\, including motorcycles.  The event is the largest\, one-day\, all-British car event in North America\, with car owners and visitors traveling from Ontario\, the northeast United States\, the Maritime provinces\, Quebec and Manitoba.   Over the years\, we have even had visitors from Alberta\, Saskatchewan\, Texas\, the UK\, and New Zealand. \nCharlie Conquergood Memorial Award\nThe venue for British Car Day® is Bronte Creek Provincial Park in Oakville\, about 25 miles west of downtown Toronto\, conveniently located at the Burloak Drive exit off the Queen Elizabeth Way. The south entrance is for non-British cars & spectators\, while the north entrance is reserved for British car exhibitors and vendors. \nEvery year one of the most popular destinations at British Car Day® is the Vendor Village area. Over 50 British-related vendors offer their new and used goods for sale\, including car parts\, complete cars\, t-shirts\, hats\, tools\, books\, supplies and so on. Many vendors offer end-of-season specials\, so there are lots of bargains to be had and great food is available from the many food vendors on site.  If you are interested in becoming a vendor please contact us.   For the first time in many years our pricing has increased by $20 to cover ever increasing costs. \nBCD comprises almost 60 classes of cars and motorcycles\, running the whole range of British automobile marques from Austin to Westfield with model names from Anglia to Zephyr and everything in between. The organizers encourage everyone to bring along their British cars whether they be current model cars\, daily drivers\, partially restored cars or projects-in-progress\, to line up with the many classic and concours-class cars in the appropriate marque and model class.   British Car Day® is the opportunity everyone anticipates to chat\, to scrutinize\, and to plan for next year.   It’s a car show but it is also a big\, end of season\, social event. \nNotable British car anniversaries will include those from 2020\, 2021 as well as this year.  They are: \n\nFrom 2020 – MG TD & Morgan Plus 4 (celebrating 70 years) and Triumph Stag (50 years).\nFrom 2021 – Jaguar E-type\, Triumph TR4 and MG Midget\, all celebrating 60 years.\nFor 2022 the MGB\, Triumph Spitfire and Lotus Elan will be celebrating their 60th anniversaries.\n\nMany examples of these fine British marques will be located on Sponsor Street just south of Registration. \nWe are delighted to report that the Sunbeam Club is holding its annual North American get together in Oakville and they will be finishing their stay by participating in British Car Day®.  The organizers are expecting 75 to 100 Sunbeam models at the show so we’ll be letting them have a MUCH larger area than usual.   Welcome! \nThe executive and members of the Toronto Triumph Club\, together with the organizing committee look forward to welcoming you to the 37th British Car Day®.  Enjoy!
