DESCRIPTION:First held in 1982\, our British Car Festival is among the oldest of its kind and one of the few multi-day British car events on the east coast. Over 150 entrants from more than 10 states participate each year. \nWe welcome all British marques and makes in all conditions. A show-quality car is not needed to share in the fun of this great event. Awards are based on voting by participants! \nThe car show is staged over several acres among the massive trees and lovely river views of Ridgeview Park in Waynesboro. The Skyline Drive\, Shenandoah National Park\, and Blue Ridge Parkway are a 10-minute drive from the show. \nPlease note MAJOR changes to our show format! \nThere are some major changes to our event this year. Due to management changes\, we have to move from the Holiday Inn that has been our host venue for many years and due to declining participation over the last several years\, we will no longer be holding an Awards banquet. \nOur new host hotel is the Days Inn\, Waynesboro – see sidebar for more information. \nOur Friday night reception has proved to be very popular\, so please add it to your schedules. \nThis year we will be holding our Friday night reception at Waynesboro Country Club. The event is open to all participants. There will be a cash bar and a ‘cookout’ style buffet of hamburger/hot dog\, baked beans\, tossed salad\, sides\, cookies\, coffee/tea (tax & tip included) is available for $20 with advance order. DESCRIPTION:Git Along\, Li’l Roadsters! \nYeehaw!  Giddy up fast!  Welcome to Waco October 11-14\, 2018! \nYour hosts\, the Rattas and the Greens\, are very much looking forward to having you join us for the TMGR Fall GoF in Waco\, which has been named the MG Round-Up.  Situated on the Chisholm Trail\, Waco boasts a tradition of the herd gathering here by the river back in the day.  So saddle up your roadster\, GT\, racer or saloon and gallop to the banks of the Brazos to join the party this fall. \nThe host hotel for the GoF is the Courtyard by Marriott in downtown Waco.  Not only is the location convenient\, the hotel sits on a prime spot overlooking the Brazos River near the historic old iron bridge and the iconic suspension bridge.  The hotel has been a gathering spot for other British car enthusiasts before\, including a group of MG owners who crossed the country to attend the MGB national convention in San Diego last summer.  In addition to a covered outdoor space with comfortable furnishings in the center courtyard\, there also is ample room on the grass behind the hotel and the parking lot for those who wish to gather there.  There are walkways on either side of the Brazos\, but the more adventurous may want to take advantage of the opportunity for kayaking or biking the nearby trails. \nOn Saturday morning\, we will make our way around the curves and over the hills of the Cameron Park roads to arrive at the Bosque River Stage on the campus of McLennan Community College for the car show.  The amphitheater will provide a relaxed comfortable setting for our catered box lunch and for the club business meeting. \nYour hosts are still considering some options for Saturday afternoon\, but we invite you to explore some of the activities that have catapulted what was our sleepy hometown into the national—and international—limelight.  As TripAdvisor’s #2 rising tourist destination\, Waco has a range of offerings to interest just about anyone.  We will be providing a more thorough list in next month’s Backroads\, but here are a few nuggets to think about now.  There is the Waco Mammoth Site\, which was recently named among the top ten dinosaur destinations by Expedia—even though mammoths were mammals\, not lizards.  Some of you may have heard of a little HGTV program called Fixer Upper.  If shiplap stirs your senses\, make your pilgrimage to the Magnolia Market complex to find a souvenir and nosh on a cupcake.  Reputed to be one of the finest smaller zoos in the country\, the Cameron Park Zoo has gone through a few changes and acquisitions since our last GoF on its premises in 2008.  If you can tolerate a sinking feeling\, try the Titanic exhibit at the Mayborn Museum on the Baylor campus.  It contains reclaimed artifacts from the sunken ship along with recreated first class and steerage cabins and stories of her passengers\, both famous and obscure. \nThe evening schedule will bring us to the Press Room atop McLane Stadium where we will convene for a social hour\, the awards banquet and the auction.  Our venue affords great views of both the football field and the city of Waco.  The Baylor Club will lay out their “On the Brazos Buffet” featuring Dr Pepper Roasted Pork Loin\, Hand Breaded Chicken Fried Steak with Cracked Black Pepper Gravy and Smothered Chicken Breast with Grilled Onions\, Jalapenos\, Smoked Bacon and Cheddar Cheese.  There will be a cash bar for those who have worked up a thirst after a long day on the dusty trail.  We all can enjoy the company of our fellow MG cowboys and cowgirls while there\, and we suspect the party will continue back in the hotel parking lot afterward. \nFor those arriving on Thursday\, the Rattas will host an informal gathering of TMGR folks at Cricket’s Grill & Draft House\, a downtown establishment not far from the hotel.  There you will find pool tables and other games to show your skill while enjoying some hearty pub fare and a choice from dozens of brews.  If that’s not your ticket\, you might enjoy an evening with the Waco Symphony Orchestra featuring violin soloist Corey Cerovsek at Baylor’s Waco Hall\, and wave at your other hosts\, the Greens\, from across the aisle before they join the crowd at Cricket’s. \nOn Friday morning we will embark on a long\, beautiful drive in the countryside west of Waco\, culminating in lunch together at the end of the drive.  Later that afternoon there will be an opportunity to tour the Balcones Distillery and sample their products.  Balcones has acquired worldwide fame among whiskey connoisseurs for their Texas Single Malt Whisky\, and recently they were selected as the official whiskey for the Texas Live! food and entertainment venue being developed in Arlington. \nHead ‘em up and move ‘em out to join the MG Round-Up in Waco in October!  You can register for this event at TMGR.org. SUMMARY:34th Annual British Car Day - Charleston\, SC
DESCRIPTION:The British Car Club of Charleston invites you to join in the festivities of our 34th Annual British Car Day at Palmetto Islands County Park\, Mt. Pleasant\, SC.  The event is open to the public for admission cost to the park ($2pp).  We invite all British cars\, whether a member of the British Car Club of Charleston or not\, to register for the event. We typically have a host of MG’s\, Triumph’s\, Austin Healey’s\, Morgan’s\, Aston Martins\, Lotus’\, Jaguars\, Mini’s\, Rolls Royce’s\, Bentley’s and more.  Registration includes admission to the park for two and an invitation to the Welcome Reception on the USS Yorktown.  Register before October 11th and receive a BCD 2018 Tee shirt and be included in a $200 Moss Motors gift certificate drawing. \nIt costs $2 per person to enter the facility. For British Car Day\, entrants will receive access vouchers to enter which is included with the BCD entrant fee. \nHagerty Youth Judging Program\nDesigned primarily for youth ages 8 to 14\, the Youth Judging Program brings the world of classics to a kid-friendly level. The Young Judges are guided through the show field as a group to pre-selected show cars and interact with owners\, allowing the judges to learn details\, history and fun facts about each. A simplified scorecard that highlights five basic categories and is rated on a scale of 1-to-5 is used. \nMoss Motors $200 gift certificate\nA drawing will be held for pre-registrants to win a $200 gift certificate for Moss Motors. \nFriday Reception\nThe Friday evening prior to the event\, October 26th\, we will be having a Welcome reception for participants on the USS YORKTOWN Fantail. Located on the rear deck of the YORKTOWN\, the fantail is an enormously popular venue. The overhead aft section of the flight deck provides shelter from the elements with views of the Charleston Harbor and Charleston’s historic district. Space is limited so register early!
