All Triumph-powered race cars with a current racing log book are invited to the 14th Annual Kastner Cup, hosted by Classic Sports Racing Group (CSRG) as part of the David Love Memorial Races April 1-3, 2016 at Sonoma Raceway. The event typically draws more than 175 race cars that are divided into eight-run groups ranging from production sports cars to Can-Am racers. About the Kastner Cup The Kastner Cup race honors the legendary R.W. "Kas" Kastner, a championship winning driver and team manager who led the U.S. Triumph racing program to numerous victories through the 1960's and 1970's. The 2016 Put-in-Bay Road Races Reunion event is shaping up to be a great event for both entrants and spectators alike. It takes place from Sunday evening August 28 thru Wednesday August 31 at 1:30 or so on Ohio's South Bass Island, a short ferry ride from Port Clinton, Ohio. Ohio Chapter T Register members such as myself and Tom Baumgardner have attended every one of these events since 2009 and will be back this year. The MG Vintage Racers (MGVR) have selected the Vintage Racer Group’s (VRG) “Historic Races” at the New Jersey Motorsports Park (NJMP) the weekend of September 15-17 as their “Focus Event” for 2017. MGVR encourages all MG racers (and spectators) to attend this special event, where a large turnout of MGs will be racing! The tentative schedule calls for a weekend of vintage car racing - including two “All-MG Races”. The 15th iteration of this great event will be hosted as the featured event at the 2017 VSCDA (Vintage Sports Car Drivers Association) Blackhawk Classic at Blackhawk Farms Raceway in Rockton, IL on June 16-18, 2017. The track is perfect for small bore production racing and the spectating is simply second to none. There is nowhere on the track that can't be accessed for watching close racing action trackside, plus there is an observation deck where seven corners can be seen from a perch in the middle of the paddock. One of the highlights of Grand Prix Race Weekend in Schenley Park is British Car Day, sponsored by the Western Pennsylvania Triumph Association (WPTA). It features over 500 of England’s best sport and luxury automobiles. 2017 will mark the 37th year of this great event and the 31st year that it has taken place in conjunction with the PVGP in Schenley Park. During that time the WPTA has raised $144,000 for the Grand Prix charities! Located in the middle of the golf course it is the anchor of our International Car Show. British Car Day is the largest annual British-only car show in Pennsylvania whose proceeds have always been contributed to charity. The MG Vintage Racers (MGVR) have selected VARAC’s “Vintage Grand Prix” at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Ontario, Canada, (Northeast of Toronto) the weekend of June 14-17 for our 2018 “Focus Event”. A “Focus Event” is an annual MGVR designated race weekend where all MG racers (and MG supporters) are encouraged to attend. It is complimented by including MG races and a variety of MG social activities and awards, including the Canadian “Simms Cup” for MGs. A large turnout of MGs will be racing, along with many other great vintage race cars! The 2018 Kastner Cup will be contested at the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix Historics at Pittsburgh International Race Complex in Beaver, Pa., July 6-8. Triumphs will run within their respective race groups with other sports cars throughout the weekend and the Kastner Cup will be a dedicated 40-minute all-Triumph race July 7 at approximately 4 p.m. https://youtu.be/uDvAKEAmA24 The PVGP Historics started in 2004 and have grown over the past decade into a vintage race event that stands alone. On Friday and Saturday, July 20-21 the VSCCA will be hosting the inaugural White Mountain Vintage Grand Prix and the long-anticipated track in Tamworth, NH. A 2.5-mile version of Watkins Glen is a good comparison. Having driven it I can tell you it is a fantastic course. The event will be open to pre-war MGs, T Series and MGAs in keeping with the VSCCA car eligibility. Due to local ordinance, it is a muffled event (90db limit) and cars must run period-correct tires (no Hoosiers or slicks). On Sunday, July 22 Nick Grewal will be hosting a concours on his farm in Sanbornton, NH as a fundraiser for the Boys and Girls Clubs. There will be a race car class.
