DESCRIPTION:Since 1997 the Chicagoland MG Club swap meet has been held at the DuPage County Fairgrounds in Wheaton\, Illinois in early spring. The site is an indoor heated facility that is centrally located approximately 30 miles due west of downtown Chicago. There will be a food vendor on-site and an ATM in the building. \nWe have reserved our usual date and buildings in the expectation that Covid related group restrictions will not preclude it. At this time\, a requirement for indoor masking is the only restriction in effect at our site. However\, due to the continuing uncertainty of restrictions for group gatherings\, vendors and shoppers alike should monitor this site for any updates as to whether or not we will be able to conduct the Swap on March 27\, 2022. \nIf the site is available without untenable restrictions\, we will be back and operating as in the past; however\, the Swap is subject to cancellation if unexpected restrictions are imposed or if the site becomes unavailable to us. Should a cancellation occur\, all vendor registration prepayments will be refunded.

DESCRIPTION:A British Motor Vehicle Tradition – Participants’ Choice Awards\nAll entries will receive a dash plaque\, goody bag\, and a ballot for voting in the Participants’ Choice Awards. This is a show for the pleasure and company of others who share your interest in vintage British machinery. Judging is by popular vote of your peers\, each of whom has a vehicle entered in the show. Each entrant receives one ballot and may cast one vote per class. There have been over 35 classes at past shows and classes will again be determined by preregistered vehicles. Three or more of the same vehicle type make a competition class\, not including the Winners’ Circle entrants. Based on early registration results\, classes are created for each major marque and certain subdivisions within marques. Where there are not sufficient early entries to justify a separate class\, entries will be grouped by type of vehicle. \nVendors and participants set up at 7:00 AM. Gates open to the public at 8:00 AM. Final registration: 10:00 AM. Voting closes at 12:00 PM. Awards Presentation: 1:30 PM. This is not a “concours” but a chance for British vehicle lovers to get together\, display their vehicles\, and have a good time. Any vehicle could go home with a trophy. So bring your British “ride” and enjoy the camaraderie! \nDue to attendance limitations\, there will NO be day-of Registration.\nCurrent Covid-19 restrictions prevented us from holding the Dixon Car Show in May of this year\, but we are happy to announce that we have secured the date of Sunday\, September 19\, 2021 at the Dixon Fairgrounds in Dixon\, CA! \nWe hope to return to our May date in 2022.

Saturday’s Events Culminate with an Awards Presentation and Banquet with a TBD Guest Speaker. Sunday’s activities include a HUGE swap meet\, Rallye to Tour Portland Area Landmarks and more VIntage Racing and Britsh Cars competing in the Giant Slalom. \nPeople’s Choice ballots are cast for more than 80 classes of British cars\, which are owned and driven by club members from more than 30 British car clubs across the U.S. and Canada–a truly international event! This is not a car show. The goal is to provide a meeting place for buyers and sellers of used parts\, new parts\, accessory items\, tools\, memorabilia\, and just about anything else of interest to the British car enthusiast. \nThe 21st meet promises to be the best yet! It has become a regional event! \nThe site is an indoor heated facility that is centrally located in the Chicago area. Last year over 800 buyers attended\, and the vendor spaces were nearly sold out. Bring a picnic basket or purchase your lunch at the show and join the MGs of Baltimore for what has always been a superb show. Bring your parts shopping list for your ongoing renovation projects or your Christmas wish list for regalia and accessories. \nAt MGs on the Rocks you will find: \nA field full of British cars in a casual park setting \n\nLots of vendors of new and used parts.\nA great selection of various British cars for sale.\nAn unlimited supply of expertise on whatever technical or restoration problem you have.\nClassic British Invasion Era Music\nPit Beef Sandwiches and other treats from The Sunshine Grille\nA wide range of classes for awards for all British Marques.\n\nPut your car on the field! Although we have many beautiful cars\, this is very much a “come as you are” gathering. Only owners of cars on the field can vote. \nPre-register! DESCRIPTION:Event Information \n\nLocation:  Historic Downtown Norcross\nTime: 10:00 am to 3:00 pm\nHundreds of classic British cars and motorcycles\nFor easier parking\, a free shuttle bus service will be available from several nearby locations\nHandicap Parking available at City Hall (click for map)\n\nBoot Sale \nOur introduction of this new event last year was so successful we are bringing it back this year. It’s the British version of a yard sale\, with everyone selling stuff from the back of their car or truck. Your vehicle does not have to be British born! If it has a “boot” (that’s what we Brits call the trunk of a car) it qualifies. The attendance at last year’s Car Fayre was close to 15\,000 people\, so pack your car or truck with anything you think might sell. It’s only $15 per vehicle to participate and you must pre-register. While you shouldn’t expect to get rich\, you’ll have a lot of fun turning your used stuff into someone else’s new treasure. Last year’s sellers all reported worthwhile results. Check here for vendor deadlines\, details\, and to register. \nShow Notes \nThe Sunbeam Tiger and Sunbeam Alpine East groups have chosen to hold their annual combined United 35th meeting and show this year in Georgia (Norcross) and are joining us for our Car Fayre on Saturday\, September 10th. All of the Sunbeams will be parked in the area around Thrasher Park\, across the railroad tracks. While they will have their own schedule of events and awards\, etc. our Car Fayre visitors are encouraged and welcomed to hop over the tracks and view a fantastic display of Sunbeams. If you are the owner of a Sunbeam you may want to register with them direct and participate in their planned events from Thursday\, September 8th thru Sunday\, September 11th. \nPlus\, the Peachtree MG Register’s big show up in Dillard\, GA is the following weekend\, so would be very easy to hit all three. 🙂
