SUMMARY:British Car Day at Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix
DESCRIPTION:One of the highlights of Grand Prix Race Weekend in Schenley Park is British Car Day\, sponsored by the Western Pennsylvania Triumph Association (WPTA). It features over 500 of England’s best sport and luxury automobiles. 2018 will mark the 38th year of this great event and the 31st year that it has taken place in conjunction with the PVGP in Schenley Park. During that time the WPTA has raised $151\,000 for the Grand Prix charities! \nLocated in the middle of the golf course it is the anchor of our International Car Show. British Car Day is the largest annual British-only car show in Pennsylvania whose proceeds have always been contributed to charity. The WPTA’s British Car Day was first held at Hartwood Acres from 1981 to 1986. In joining the Grand Prix in 1987\, an immediate synergy was evident. That relationship has continued to be a huge success with each event complimenting the other.

DESCRIPTION:This will be the 11th edition of our Carolina British Classic Car Show. Again it will be at The Historic Columbia Speedway participating with Tartan Day South. There will be events on Thursday\, Friday and the CBC XI Car Show on Saturday. \nThe first event for all pre-registered participants begins on Thursday evening presented by Tartan Day South Festival. This is a free drop-in event. Go to www.tartandaydsouth.com for all TDS events. \nFriday we will again have a “Ramble of the Tartans” presented by The Lake Murray Chamber of Commerce. This takes the form of a rally of British Classic Cars circling Lake Murray with informative stops at several historic locations along the way. \nThe drive will start and finish at the host Wingate Hotel 803-957-5000 at 108 Saluda Pointe Court\, Lexington\, SC. There will be a reception for show participants on Friday evening – details to be determined. There will be an opportunity for the assembled LBCs to convoy to the festival grounds and park as a group to take in a classic Celtic Concert. \nThis year there will again be a special “ladies” event called the ELEVENSES. It follows an old British custom of taking a mid-morning break for tea and scones. Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park. \nWe have several new items this year which we’ve incorporated into BCD to make the day more enjoyable for all: \nSticky Fingers – We are very fortunate to have the food at our Welcome Reception donated by Sticky Fingers for which we are incredibly thankful! \nBottles Beverage Superstore – We are very fortunate to have a wine tasting provided by Bottles at our Welcome reception. \nAirbrush on the Corner by Sandi – Caricaturist – will be on hand to draw a fun image of you. If you want to bring a picture of you and your car\, she may be able to incorporate the car. Prices start at $20\, and if you would please\, cash only! \nCollege of Charleston Quidditch Team – will entertain us with a demo in the afternoon. Those familiar with Harry Potter know what Quidditch is. Those unfamiliar will be briefed so that you can enjoy it as well. \nDiamond Springs Water – will be on hand to offer their fresh brewed coffee (free of charge) for us to enjoy with our pastries BCD morning. \nShuttle to Towne Centre – Dennis and Tina have kindly offered the use of their SUV to shuttle a few of our out of town guests to Towne Centre for an hour or so of shopping. Your lovely driver will be Tina Lacey\, and this will be offered on a first-come-first-served basis. More details at the show. \nWe will have a silent auction at the Welcome Reception including some great picnic baskets all set up and ready to enter into the Picnic Competition on Saturday. You can set out a spread in your trunk\, on a pretty blanket or tablecloth on the ground or a table if you can fit it in your trunk. You can be formal or just have some fun with it. Get in the spirit (a Halloween Picnic Basket perhaps? Hmmmmm?) \nYou will also notice a few new items on the field which we hope you will enjoy.
