SUMMARY:GOF South 2019 - Daytona\, Florida
DESCRIPTION:The Gathering of the Faithful (GOF) was a term coined in the mid-1960s. The intention of a GOF was\, and remains to this day\, a gathering to bring together experienced and novice MG owners and enthusiasts to share Technical and Parts information.  This will be the 53rd annual gathering of MG enthusiasts in the South. \nThe Car show is not so much a competition but an opportunity for MG owners to show off their Pride and Joy. No matter if your MG is a basket case\, a work in progress\, your daily driver\, or a Trailer Queen it will be most welcome. The Information sharing feature is the reason for a GOF. The fun\, the comradery\, an excellent resort as a base of operations\, makes it a fine long weekend. \nA GOF-South is the premier annual MG event in Florida and has been continuously held for the past 52 years. Three Florida MG clubs are responsible for hosting the event with a different club hosting each year. What we\, at MG Classics of Jacksonville\, have in store for GOF-South 2019 may be seen by selecting the ‘Preliminary Program’ on the Top Menu. The ‘Big Thing’ is the opportunity for participants to drive their MG around the Road Course at the Daytona Speedway. \n \nThis is the primary event every year so please dust off the MG\, or fuel up the family iron\, and join us for a fun-filled weekend. That is what owning an MG is all about. Enjoying the fellowship\, friendship\, and hardship that is part and parcel owning one of these little British cars.

DESCRIPTION:The Texas Healey Roundup is an annual event hosted on a rotating basis by the three Texas Austin Healey clubs: South Texas\, Gulf Coast\, and North Texas Austin Healey Clubs. The three clubs have a combined membership of over 400 families representing more than 300 Austin Healeys. The 39th Annual Texas Healey Roundup\, hosted this year by the South Texas Austin Healey Club (STAHC)\, will be held April 5-7\, 2019\, in Georgetown\, Texas. In past years Healey enthusiasts\, as well as fans of other sports cars\, have attended the now famous Texas Healey Roundup. Participants come from all over Texas\, and as far away as Georgia\, the Carolinas\, Oklahoma\, Missouri\, Indiana\, Illinois\, Louisiana\, and even Canada. \nGeorgetown is only minutes from Austin\, Texas. The area has a population of well over 2 million people\, so we expect a large turnout. Austin Healeys\, manufactured form the 1950’s up through the late 1960’s\, will be on display at the Town Square in downtown Georgetown. We also anticipate good media coverage of the Roundup. Other events will be a road rally through the beautiful Hill Country surrounding Georgetown\, a Gymkhana\, plus social and fellowship events all three days.

DESCRIPTION:Git Along\, Li’l Roadsters! \nYeehaw!  Giddy up fast!  Welcome to Waco October 11-14\, 2018! \nYour hosts\, the Rattas and the Greens\, are very much looking forward to having you join us for the TMGR Fall GoF in Waco\, which has been named the MG Round-Up.  Situated on the Chisholm Trail\, Waco boasts a tradition of the herd gathering here by the river back in the day.  So saddle up your roadster\, GT\, racer or saloon and gallop to the banks of the Brazos to join the party this fall. \nThe host hotel for the GoF is the Courtyard by Marriott in downtown Waco.  Not only is the location convenient\, the hotel sits on a prime spot overlooking the Brazos River near the historic old iron bridge and the iconic suspension bridge.  The hotel has been a gathering spot for other British car enthusiasts before\, including a group of MG owners who crossed the country to attend the MGB national convention in San Diego last summer.  In addition to a covered outdoor space with comfortable furnishings in the center courtyard\, there also is ample room on the grass behind the hotel and the parking lot for those who wish to gather there.  There are walkways on either side of the Brazos\, but the more adventurous may want to take advantage of the opportunity for kayaking or biking the nearby trails. \nOn Saturday morning\, we will make our way around the curves and over the hills of the Cameron Park roads to arrive at the Bosque River Stage on the campus of McLennan Community College for the car show.  The amphitheater will provide a relaxed comfortable setting for our catered box lunch and for the club business meeting. \nYour hosts are still considering some options for Saturday afternoon\, but we invite you to explore some of the activities that have catapulted what was our sleepy hometown into the national—and international—limelight.  As TripAdvisor’s #2 rising tourist destination\, Waco has a range of offerings to interest just about anyone.  We will be providing a more thorough list in next month’s Backroads\, but here are a few nuggets to think about now.  There is the Waco Mammoth Site\, which was recently named among the top ten dinosaur destinations by Expedia—even though mammoths were mammals\, not lizards.  Some of you may have heard of a little HGTV program called Fixer Upper.  If shiplap stirs your senses\, make your pilgrimage to the Magnolia Market complex to find a souvenir and nosh on a cupcake.  Reputed to be one of the finest smaller zoos in the country\, the Cameron Park Zoo has gone through a few changes and acquisitions since our last GoF on its premises in 2008.  If you can tolerate a sinking feeling\, try the Titanic exhibit at the Mayborn Museum on the Baylor campus.  It contains reclaimed artifacts from the sunken ship along with recreated first class and steerage cabins and stories of her passengers\, both famous and obscure. \nThe evening schedule will bring us to the Press Room atop McLane Stadium where we will convene for a social hour\, the awards banquet and the auction.  Our venue affords great views of both the football field and the city of Waco.  The Baylor Club will lay out their “On the Brazos Buffet” featuring Dr Pepper Roasted Pork Loin\, Hand Breaded Chicken Fried Steak with Cracked Black Pepper Gravy and Smothered Chicken Breast with Grilled Onions\, Jalapenos\, Smoked Bacon and Cheddar Cheese.  There will be a cash bar for those who have worked up a thirst after a long day on the dusty trail.  We all can enjoy the company of our fellow MG cowboys and cowgirls while there\, and we suspect the party will continue back in the hotel parking lot afterward. \nFor those arriving on Thursday\, the Rattas will host an informal gathering of TMGR folks at Cricket’s Grill & Draft House\, a downtown establishment not far from the hotel.  There you will find pool tables and other games to show your skill while enjoying some hearty pub fare and a choice from dozens of brews.  If that’s not your ticket\, you might enjoy an evening with the Waco Symphony Orchestra featuring violin soloist Corey Cerovsek at Baylor’s Waco Hall\, and wave at your other hosts\, the Greens\, from across the aisle before they join the crowd at Cricket’s. \nOn Friday morning we will embark on a long\, beautiful drive in the countryside west of Waco\, culminating in lunch together at the end of the drive.  Later that afternoon there will be an opportunity to tour the Balcones Distillery and sample their products.  Balcones has acquired worldwide fame among whiskey connoisseurs for their Texas Single Malt Whisky\, and recently they were selected as the official whiskey for the Texas Live! food and entertainment venue being developed in Arlington. \nHead ‘em up and move ‘em out to join the MG Round-Up in Waco in October!  You can register for this event at TMGR.org. Lebanon is very centrally located\, it is within an hour and a half of virtually every address in Vermont and New Hampshire\, only a few hours from Boston\, and a little over four hours from the NYC area. \nLebanon is located at the junction of Interstates 89 and 91. GOF 102 will be at The Fireside Inn and Suites. This is a nice hotel with reasonable rates.The hotel is within a few miles of the Amtrak station and less than a mile from the Lebanon airport.

SUMMARY:Mini Meet West 2018\, Oregon
DESCRIPTION:Mini Meet West is an annual gathering of fans of the classic Mini manufactured from 1959 to 2000 (including variants such as Mini-based Wolseley\, Rileys\, Innocenti\, ADO16 and other variants that are derived from the classic Mini) and the modern BMW MINI that is currently in production. A group of West Coast clubs held the first U.S. Mini Meet in Reno\, Nevada back in 1973. There were 43 paid registrations at the first meet. Eventually\, the Meet became known as the 1st Mini Meet West after the startup of the Mini Meet East events in 1975.

SUMMARY:Jensen East Nationals 2018
DESCRIPTION:The meet always includes multiple Jensen Interceptors and Jensen-Healeys in all their various iterations and will often include the less common Jensen GT plus occasionally some real Jensen rarities such as FFs\, CV-8s\, 541s and other surprises. Cars without Jensen Motors badges but a shared history at the West Bromwich factory such as the Volvo P1800 and Sunbeam Alpine/Tiger are welcomed and have attended previously. And what the heck; we have often had a Triumph Spitfire join us and we’ve even had a vintage Citroën SM in attendance\, so one would be hard-pressed to say that we are not an inclusive group! \nActivities at the annual meet include non-competitive and fun driving events\, local history tours and attractions\, tech sessions\, organized and impromptu meals and many other social activities which are targeted to appeal to car owners\, admirers\, and their supporters. While culminating in a car show which is open to viewing by the public and an awards meal\, the emphasis is always more on fun than competition.
