SUMMARY:The Great Race 2021 - Texas to South Carolina
DESCRIPTION:The Great Race is an antique\, vintage\, and collector car competitive controlled-speed endurance road rally on public highways. It is not a test of top speed. It is a test of a driver/navigator team’s ability to follow precise course instructions and the cars (and teams) ability to endure on a cross-country trip. The course instructions require the competing teams to drive at or below the posted speed limits at all times. \n \nEach day the driver and navigator team receives a set of course instructions that indicate every turn\, speed change\, stop\, and start that the team must make throughout the day (usually 220 to 250 such instructions per day). Along the course route\, there will be from 4 to 7 checkpoints recording the exact time that the team passes that point. The objective is to arrive at each checkpoint at the correct time\, not the fastest. The score for each team is the result of the team’s ability to follow the designated course instructions precisely. Every second off the perfect time (early or late) at each checkpoint is a penalty point. This format is much more mentally demanding than a flat-out cross-country race. Also\, GPS or computers are not permitted and odometers are taped over. This is a test of human mental agility and endurance as well as classic car endurance\, rather than programming capability. The course avoids timed segments on interstate highways\, opting instead for scenic local\, county\, and state highways whenever possible through some of the prettiest country in the United States. \n

DESCRIPTION:This year marks the 25th British Car Week\, first initiated when Mr. Peter Egan published his classic story in his Side Glances column\, titled “Seldom Seen Cars” in the March 1997 edition of Road & Track magazine. In his story\, he shared his then-recent thoughts about reminiscing in the dentist’s chair with his mouth full of gauze. After all\, what else is there to do? He was thinking about what has happened to all of the old cars he used to enjoy seeing on the roads in his local town. He thought about the times when he would regularly see classic marques such as Morgan\, MG\, Jaguar\, Porsche\, Triumph\, and even the likes of an old Woodie Wagon on the streets of his community. \nThe above story is what inspired the creation of British Car Week. With the thought of having a target week for all British car owners to get their cars out of storage and get them prepped for the upcoming driving season. If all goes as planned\, they would then take their cars out for a drive within their communities to enable others to enjoy them as they drive by. These classics are a sight to behold and appreciated whenever they are spotted driving by. It is no secret they are even rarer today than when Peter originally wrote his article twenty-five years ago. With so many rapid changes occurring within the automobile industry today\, we can only hope that older model classic cars will continue to be permitted on the roads for many years to come. \nThanks to all of the enthusiastic owners of classic British cars\, we continue to keep our hobby going. With 2020 now behind us\, we can now have hope that 2021 will be a better year for all and that we will soon be rekindling our friendships with other British car enthusiasts at events. \nSo be sure to top-off your dashpots\, and plan a drive during British Car Week 2021!

DESCRIPTION:The Gathering of the Faithful (GOF) was a term coined in the mid-1960s. The intention of a GOF was\, and remains to this day\, a gathering to bring together experienced and novice MG owners and enthusiasts to share Technical and Parts information.  This will be the 53rd annual gathering of MG enthusiasts in the South. \nThe Car show is not so much a competition but an opportunity for MG owners to show off their Pride and Joy. No matter if your MG is a basket case\, a work in progress\, your daily driver\, or a Trailer Queen it will be most welcome. The Information sharing feature is the reason for a GOF. The fun\, the comradery\, an excellent resort as a base of operations\, makes it a fine long weekend. \nA GOF-South is the premier annual MG event in Florida and has been continuously held for the past 52 years. Three Florida MG clubs are responsible for hosting the event with a different club hosting each year. What we\, at MG Classics of Jacksonville\, have in store for GOF-South 2019 may be seen by selecting the ‘Preliminary Program’ on the Top Menu. SUMMARY:Colorado English Motoring Conclave 2018
DESCRIPTION:Conceived by a group of British car and motorcycle clubs in the Denver area\, the first Colorado English Motoring Conclave was held in the summer of 1983.  Every September since then many hundreds of classic and collector cars and their owners have gathered at the Conclave to celebrate the operation\, preservation\, and owner participation of the great British automobile marques. \nNow in its 35th year\, the 2018 Conclave will be held over the weekend of the 15-16th of September. The weekend begins on Saturday the 15th with “Ride the Rockies” motoring tour which starts from Oak Park in Arvada\, and is followed by the All British English Motoring Conclave Car Show\, which will be also be held in the now familiar location of Oak Park\, on Sunday the 16th. \nEach September the Conclave car show sees well over 400 British cars and bikes gather in the fall sunshine of Oak Park for the highlight of the Colorado British motoring year.  Representatives of just about every British Marque can be seen on display on the respective club stands\, including Austin-Healey\, Arial\, Aston Martin\, Bentley\, BSA\, Daimler\, Jaguar\, Jensen\, Lotus\, MG\, Morris\, Rolls Royce\, Rover\, Rudge\, Sunbeam\, Triumph\, and TVR.  The eagle eyed visitor will probably be able to see vehicles from every decade of the 20th century as well as plenty of future British classics produced since the the turn of this century. \nAll cars are voted on by a public ballot which is open to anyone attending the show. In most classes ribbons are presented to 1st\, 2nd\, and 3rd in class. This is the largest celebration of the British Motoring Hobby in the Rocky Mountain region of the United States so why not come along\, bring the kids and share with them the fun of these wonderful classic vehicles\, enjoy food\, fun\, and entertainment in the park\, visit local vendors and take advantage of some super deals. Wandering the field and marveling at all the great cars and bikes on display might even convince you to get your own British classic to bring along next year.

DESCRIPTION:For the 2018 the New England British Reliability Run we will be touring the many small harbors along the New Hampshire & Maine coast in search of lighthouses and delicious “Homarus Americanus” (lobsters!). You can expect beautiful views of the coast as we motor on back roads through historic villages\, some dating back to the 1600’s! Never far from the ocean\, we will have ample opportunities to see & visit famous lighthouses that protect the harbors of New Hampshire and Maine\, some that have stood guard from before the Revolution! Of course\, being so near to the sea\, there is much more than lighthouses to look forward to…did I mention the lobsters? I’m not at all certain there isn’t a better combination than crisp fall weather\, the smell of the ocean and the taste of a lobster tail dripping with butter! \nOur route will take us through the tiny harbors and rocky coves that Maine and New Hampshire are famous for\, framed by the fall colors that will just be beginning to grace the scenery…the drives should be spectacular. \nOh\, and did I mention the lobsters?!

DESCRIPTION:The British Invasion is a weekend celebration of all things British. \nAnnually we attract 550-650 British Cars from Canada and the eastern United States. \nThe Town of Stowe welcomes the “Invaders” with a Big Main Street Party on Friday evening with a live band from 6:30-9:30 PM. \nSaturday is the Concours d’Elegance (Judged with a New Category for PRESERVATION Cars)\, the British Classic (People’s Choice)\, a Car Corral\, British Vendors\, Ladies Hat Competition with awards presented by the “Queen”\,  Food and British Invasion Music.  Registrants and General Admission attendees are encouraged to dress in British Fashion with awards issued in several categories.  Saturday also features the “British Attire Competition\,” which is open to Car Show Registrants & Guest\, and the General Public\, where our roving judges seek out the most original and most interesting British Dressed attendees. \nSunday starts with a morning\, 70 minute\, run over Smuggler’s Notch and the back roads for the Car Show Registrants\, meanwhile back at the show field we feature a driving review of the Saturday Winners\, a Competition of Colors\, and a Tailgate Picnic Competition\, and more. \nCar Club Display Award. \nGates open to the public at 9:00 AM Saturday and Sunday. \nGeneral Admission is $15 for a 2-day Pass or $10 for Sunday only. \nFor arriving early in Stowe – Thursday offers the “Basin Harbor Driving Tour.”

SUMMARY:New England British Reliability Run 2017
DESCRIPTION:The ABRR is based on UK Reliability Runs that to this day continue to run and benefit children’s charities in England. Carried on by the Delaware Valley Triumph Club of PA since 2008\, the ABRR spirit is now spreading throughout the USA with multiple regional runs. The ABRR is a challenging and fun driving event that so far has raised more than $215\,000 for worthy children’s charities here in the states! \nThe ABRR is not a race. The run is conducted on public roads at posted speeds. It is not a road rally either\, as there are no checkpoints or deliberately vague and misleading instructions.  The ABRR Teams travel in groups\, taking care to keep the cars together\, making group stops as necessary. The ABRR is a great fall drive on rural paved roads through beautiful countryside in the company of fellow British car friends. All done for a good cause as the only competition is how much each ABRR Team raises for the kids!
