SUMMARY:Champagne British Car Festival\, 2017
DESCRIPTION:The 26 annual Champagne British Car Festival will be held June 2\,3 & 4\, 2017 in Bloomington\, Illinois.  DeLorean has been chosen as the featured marque.  The Sunday public show on the lawn of the historic David Davis Mansion will feature the Mecum Auction “Mobile Experience” trailer and the McNuty Irish Dancers. \n \nFor anyone who has watched one of the Mecum auctions on TV\, you know how glamorous this side of car auctions can be. The glossy paint\, rare cars and high-rollers willing to bid up to get what they want make for an exciting event. But that excitement had been limited to the people who happen to watch the auctions on TV or get to one in person\, until Mecum joined up with Spevco to create a mobile marketing unit that brings that excitement out on the road. \n“When they came to us\, they wanted something they could take to car shows\, events and their own auctions to interact with people and help build their brand\,” said Chris Stonehouse\, mission specialist. What they ended up with was an exhibit that can display a couple of cars at a time\, on a stage just like the ones that are set up for each auctions. The cars come rolling out to huge fanfare\, and people love to get up close and personal with the cars. \nThe interactive exhibit includes iPads where people can learn more about Mecum and register into their database for alerts of upcoming auctions and a regular newsletter. For registering they get a t-shirt\, and then they’re able to get up on stage for a photo-op with the car\, which they can share on social media. “It’s been a great way for them to really build excitement and advertise upcoming events\,” Stonehouse said. [Mecum Spevco] \nMecum kicked off their 2016 auctions with a big event in Kissimmee\, Fla.\, earlier this month\, and Stonehouse was lucky to be able to be there and take part in some of the marketing events. From there the trailer will travel to car shows and specialty events a it makes its way to the other auctions on tap for 2016. “Mecum’s marketing team has been really pleased with the success of this program\,” Stonehouse said. “We not only created a customized trailer\, but we cover the logistics of taking it on the road. Our all-inclusive\, turn-key operations are what really set us apart from our competition\, and that’s something the folks at Mecum can appreciate\, as they’re also in a class of their own.” \nWatch for the ‘The Mecum Auctions Mobile Experience” to show up on June 4th at the CBCF

Organized as an “academic conference” by the New England MG ‘T’ Register\, the program consists of presentations concerning all M.G.s – with a variety of MG related topics. You do not need to be member of the “T” Register to attend. All enthusiasts are welcome! \nFriday enjoy the museum in the afternoon\, with dinner on your own.  Then there will be a “meet and greet” informal social at the host Ramada hotel for the evening for everyone – including a “literature flea market” from 7PM to 9PM.  Buy\, sell\, swap your stuff (no vendors please).  Local enthusiasts are also encouraged to attend this Friday even social at no charge – even if they are not coming to Saturday’s seminar\, and are encouraged to come in their vintage cars if possible. \nSaturday\, starting at 9:30AM there will be a series of speakers for the day at the museum.  A lunch and dinner buffet will be included at the museum with a speaker at each.  A book “show and tell” is also included where attendees can briefly show a MG related book of theirs that “has been special to them” about MGs\, – and briefly explain why. \nRegistration for the event will be $75.00\, which includes museum admission Friday andSaturday\, the Friday evening social at the hotel\, and the Kimber Festival activities on Saturdaywith both lunch and dinner.  Register online and save a stamp!  Registration forms are on the T Register’s web site:  nemgtr.org (Kimber Festival).  This is a “National Event”\, and folks will be coming from all over.  75-100 attendees are expected. \nLocation:\nAmerica on Wheels Museum in Allentown\, Pa. is the selected location for this year’s Kimber Festival.  In total the building is 43\,000 square feet. The museum offers over 23\,000 square feet of Exhibit space divided into three main galleries and several smaller Exhibits.  Exhibits include all modes of “transportation on wheels” – not just cars.  It also offers educational experiences\, plus a gift shop. And it is located in the Lehigh Valley\, which offers many other vacation opportunities while you are here (www.discoverlehighvalley.com). \nMotel Information:\nThe selected host motel is the Ramada Inn at 1500 MacArthur Road\, Whitehall\, Pa.- around 2 miles from the America on Wheels.  Call the hotel at 1-610-439-1037 to make your reservation.  Our festival special room rate of $71.99 can be booked by asking for the Old M.G. rate. The hotel requests that reservations be made by March 8th to receive this special rate.  The Fridayevening “social meet & greet” (Noggin ‘n Natter) will be held here for attendees\, plus the local MG and British car club members. \nSchedule of Activities\n \n\n\n\nFriday\, April 8\n\n\n\n\n\n1:00-4:00\nRegistration at the motel\n\n\n\n1:00-5:00\n\nEnjoy the museum’s exhibits\n\n\nSaturday\, April 9\n\n\n\n\n\n9:15-12:00\nMorning presentations at the museum\n\n\n\n12:10-1:15\nLuncheon\n\n\n\n1:30-4:30\nAfternoon presentations at the museum\n\n\n\n6:00-8:30\n\nDinner with speaker at the museum\n\n\nSunday\, April 10\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDepartures\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSpeaker\n\nTopic\n\n\nRobin Barker\n\n “MGA Sales Literature and the Nuffield Press Limited”\n\n\nRichard Miller\n\n“The British Automotive Invasion of North America from the MG TC to the MGB.”\n\n\nJohn Nikas\, Special Projects Coordinator\nMoss Motors\n\n“The British Sports Car Companion – British sports car ownership in the 21st Century”\n\n\nGeoff Wheatley\n\nM.G. history — “The End of an Era”\n\n\nTom Wilson\n\n“Tanks and TCs: M.G. in the 1940s”\n\n\nMike Leckstein\n\n25th Anniversary of “The Circuit of Britain 1990: From Plan to Reality”\n\n\nKen Beck\n\n“Wheel Wisdom”
