AMOC Racing has launched a fresh new approach to the GT Challenge race series for GT cars running on slick tires, and aimed at ‘gentlemen drivers’. The GT Challenge is open to all GT cars old and new, the simple new format incorporates three classes; Class 1 for Aston Martin GT4 and N24, Class 2 for other marques running to FIA GT4 rules and Class 3 for any sports or saloon car of a type first built between 1995 and 2007 – providing performance is deemed appropriate.
All cars will run on a control Dunlop slick tire thanks to support from HP Tyres who will support all rounds. The GT Challenge will consist of five rounds throughout the 2018 AMOC Racing season calendar, the 50-minute endurance races will feature a rolling start and incorporate a pit-stop to enable competitors to share the driving.
The GT Challenge will join the popular line-up of series under the AMOC Racing banner including the AMOC Intermarque Championship, Pre-War Team Challenge and Jack Fairman Cup for 50s Sports Car incorporating the XK Challenge. The 2018 Season kicks off at Oulton Park (12th May) before heading to Brands Hatch Indy (23th June), Donington (29th July), Snetterton (1st Sept) and ending the season at Silverstone National Circuit (6th October).
Since the beginning of 2017 AMOC Racing has been under the new ownership and direction of the Motor Racing Legends organization led by Duncan Wiltshire. Series and Championship Co-ordinator for AMOC Racing is recently-recruited Hayley Hickmore. Hayley brings a wealth of experience of managing GT endurance racing.
We believe this simple new format offers a perfect platform for the Aston Martin GT4 competitors who enjoy thrilling class battles, whilst keeping the competitive door open to all GT car owners who wish to enjoy racing on slicks on a regular basis without the pressure, time restraints or budget required for British GT or other semi-professional series.
