Bill Pack V12 Automotive Art Book Project

Our friend David Townsend over at Sportscar Art pointed out the photography of Bill Pack to me, and I am blown away. If you’ve never seen Bill Pack’s automotive art you owe it to yourself to take a look at one of the most unique photographers practicing the craft. His technique of “painting with light” brings a completely fresh look to vintage and classic cars. Presently, Bill is working on publishing a curated collection of some of his finest work into a leather bound, 12″ x 12″ coffee table book—truly a must have for any car guys automotive library. Bill’s Kickstarter campaign is getting near the end (just 8 days to go) and is still a bit short of the goal. V12 Automotive Art would make a handsome gift for any car enthusiast. It’s a self-funded effort and he has about […]

Sunbeam Tiger Targa Floria from Sports Car Art

New from David Townsend at Sports Car Art has released an art print of the Sunbeam Tiger Targa Florio. The #192 Sunbeam Tiger that ran the 1965 Targa Florio may possibly be the most famous Sunbeam Tiger on the planet. Immortalized in the Castrol film Mountain Legends, the Rootes competition prepared Tiger finished a respectable 14th in the grueling Sicilian race. Starting with a stock 1964 Alpine, the legendary Carroll Shelby was brought in to modify the Sunbeam by the addition of a Ford 289 Hi-Po V8. The small-block Ford was chosen for the modification due to its small profile and the relative ease with which it could be installed into the Alpine chassis. Most of the other modifications—large fuel tank, oil cooler, a few special additions for the navigator—were pretty typical fare for the era. One of the more interesting changes was the […]

Recap – British Sports Car Hall of Fame

As you all know by now, the induction ceremonies for the British Sports Car Hall of Fame were held this past Friday, June 2nd, in Petersburg, Virginia. The event was held in coordination with the second Moss Motorfest and was a great success with a standing room only crowd of almost 600 people in attendance. Of the twenty-three human inductees (more on that in a moment), eight were in attendance. Those eight were Mike Cook, Michael Dale, Peter Egan, Robert Johns, Richard Knudson, Graham Robson, Bob Tullius and John Twist. During the awards ceremony itself, brief biographies were gone over, stories were told on themselves and others, and then the gorgeous Moto-Lita steering Heacock Insurance wheel awards were handed out. After the awards ceremony proper, started off by Rob Goldman of Moss and then MCed by Graham Robson and John Nikas, a […]

NH Show of Dreams to Benefit Charities

Each year the British Car Club of New Hampshire puts on their annual Show of Dreams to benefit the New Hampshire Food Bank and the High Hopes Foundation. It’s a great show and this is the 21st rendition. However, registrations are lagging a bit from where they were last year and, while it’s  regional show, we would like to give this show and its charities a bit of a boost. Remember, 100% of the proceeds go to the charities—a bit over $7000 was raised last year to help feed hungry kids. David Townsend of Sports Car Art has attended for the past 4 years and it’s just a great show. He says that although the show is not huge (about 200 cars or so), it is very well run and a ton of fun. For more information on the show, […]

A Puzzling Development in Sports Car Art

David Townsend, the artist behind Sports Car Art, has come out with some beautiful 1000 piece jigsaw puzzles. Some of them have been done in partnership with Moss Motors, and while Moss is carrying the MG, Triumph, and Austin-Healey, David is directly offering the Cunningham E-Type Jaguar, XKSS, C and D-Types, AC Cobra MKI, and the Austin-Healey 3000 Works Rally car. The puzzles are $59.95, build out to a full 18″ x 36″, and come in a really nice flip-top box.The puzzle quality/construction is of good quality cardboard and once constructed they would also look very nice framed. David began working on British cars as a youngster. From his first car—a ‘61 Morris Minor—through a succession of British iron including several MGBs, a Triumph TR3, Austin-Healey Sprite, Jaguar 3.4 MK1 and various other assorted vintage cars, his appreciation for these machines has […]
